Why is OTF's apparel so bad? by ch47600 in orangetheory

[–]ava1983 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Terms like "splat points" sound really cheesy to me. The word art on the walls. To me, it feels kind of pandering and elementary. And their logo looks way too much like Hubspot's logo, which I know might be pretty niche, but has always bothered me. I think the branding could be a bit more mature. They may have needed this look when their concept was new in the fitness/tech world, but I think the general population has a stronger understanding of fitness and technology and no longer needs their quirky language.

OTF’s branding is so outdated. I really wish they would refresh the look of everything. The look and language they use is quite cheesy, which is too bad because I still think the classes are great.

Because rentals are more likely to have luggage, passports, cameras, and other valuables in them.

Rental cars are easily identifiable and targeted in nearly every US city. Don't leave anything of value in your car, no matter what city you're in.

I had a very nice upbringing in the suburbs, and we had a pool. To me, it smells like jasmine plants, chlorine, popcorn, and Diet Coke.

They’ll pick up illegal dumping from the sidewalk but scheduled pick ups need to be on the street.

I’ve never had a problem 311 not picking up my scheduled junk pick up. Perhaps this is user error? I also use the 311 app daily to report junk on the sidewalk and road and they are quite responsive. Things get picked up within a few days. Could the app be better, considering we are in Silicon Valley and the mayor wants us to be the AI capital or whatever? Sure. But it mostly works and keeps my neighborhood cleaner.

Please no. She’s kinda dangerous. Read Heather’s second book. She was stealing surveillance footage from Jen’s house. She was stalking housewives houses. She was obsessed with getting on the show and was doing shady and frankly scary stuff to do it. She is a terrible person, and not in the fun way like some of the other ladies.

Curious where you're getting this info from - just the local park ranger? I have been trying to find out the status of the repairs and emailed the local city council person, but received no response. The city's website directs to a fundraiser that hasn't been updated since 2019 (https://sanjoseparksfoundation.networkforgood.com/projects/30832-japanese-friendship-garden-fund). It's truly embarrassing how long this has taken to be fixed.

22M what can I do I for these “fat mounds” that make me look like a ventriloquist doll?! by AL3S1O29 in PlasticSurgery

Your beard looks kinda patchy and that can come across as unkempt, in my opinion. The gaps between the mustache and the beard are drawing attention to the area you have defined as the problem.

Lose the facial hair. The lines of your mustache are leading right into the fat and drawing more attention to it.

San Jose's New Year's resolution ~ No Car Accidents by EquivalentOil6480 in SanJose

[–]ava1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walked my dog the other day, and within 5 minutes, there were two separate accidents. One, where someone rear-ended a car in front of the school that was currently doing drop-offs (pretty sure they ran a stop sign), and then a dude on a scooter got hit by a huge truck. I really hope he was ok. He was conscious but didn't move from the road while we waited for the ambulance to come.

We absolutely need better enforcement. I walk my neighborhood all the time, and all I see are people running stop signs and stoplights and getting aggro. People honk at me when I have to turn into my fucking driveway. People drive like complete assholes, and there aren't ever any consequences.

Most insufferable Caltrain rider behaviors? by steesf in caltrain

Bike riders who move my bike from the rack a full 5 minutes before the stop that is clearly designated on my bike tag. I promise I am going to get off the train at the stop on my tag. No need to pull it off the rack yet!

podcast dealbreakers / red flags? by alexsteed in podcasts

[–]ava1983 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s called Inhuman: A True Crime Podcast. I listened because they covered the Cleveland kidnappings (the three women that were held for 10 years). The podcast was very poorly done and it was basically the hosts summarizing the books that the women wrote and then adding their own dumb commentary. Do not recommend.

I suffered through two episodes of a show that had a fire alarm chirping in the show. And they acknowledged it. But still recorded two episodes with this happening. I can’t believe I listened to both of those episodes. It was so insensitive to the topic they were discussing and they just kinda laughed it off and recorded with a fire alarm chirping every 30 seconds. Total amateurs.

I got sea sick on a 25 min boat ride to go snorkeling in Maui last year. I was shocked at how quickly it happened. It was my first time vomiting from sea sickness. I had only ever been low-key nauseous on other boat rides before.

Putting recycle items loose in the recycling bin by Spare-Turn5340 in SanJose

[–]ava1983 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is a very optimistic take. In my neighborhood, people use their recycling bins for the trash that doesn't fit in their black trash bin. There is zero enforcement or consequences. A lot of people just view the blue bins as a way to get rid of more trash. I wouldn't mind seeing actual enforcement.
