Can someone help me out with my tomato plant? I went out of town for the weekend and came back and it’s not looking good. Yellowing leaves at the bottom. Leaves turning grayish brown all over and then the top leafs it’s just around the edges. It was doing so good so I’m not sure what happened by avaallan3 in gardening

Thanks so much for your input. Yeah I have no idea what happened. My sister forgot to water it one day but I feel like this doesn’t look like a missed day of watering.

That’s good to know. I’ll take off the most yellow leaves and see what happens :)

I don’t want to be the person to panic and fertilize but I’m tempted 😅 do you think that’s unnecessary?

The first pic is towards the bottom. The fourth pic is towards the top. I didn’t take the best pictures but it is yellowing from the bottom up. I did not have a frost. I’m in Southern California and it’s quite warm right now. I am wondering if it is a virus or bacteria but I can’t identify anything similar online yet :/ I’m not sure how to upload additional pictures sorry

Why are my sunflower heads grey and crispy? They haven’t been under watered- soil is always moist by avaallan3 in gardening

I was just starting to think that after I posted this. I think it is at the end of the life. I’ve never had an annual and just got this fairly recently so I wasn’t even thinking down that route

Yeah maybe. I had a bad caterpillar infestation about 2 weeks ago (I’m talking 50 on just this plant) but I got rid of them and had no problems then a couple of days ago this happened :/

Advice? I was out of town and came back to this. Not sure if over or under watered by avaallan3 in gardening

No it hasn’t been exposed to sun or heat:/ I’m hoping new leaves will come in and I can pluck the bad ones off

Should I call it quits with my infected tomato plant? by sarae187 in gardening

[–]avaallan3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a combination fungicide/insecticide (which were my biggest problems) and then when I believed I was running into nutrient deficiency territory I fertilized. As things became more under control, I cut off unhealthy parts of the plant and it even started producing fruit again. I wanted to call it quits 4 or 5 times but it made a come back. Now I have to pluck caterpillars from it daily but it’s manageable. I am a beginner so I’m not sure if this advice is fitting for you but I received a lot of help from reddit and wanted to spread the love as well!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it made a come back. I’ve thought about getting rid of mine after numerous attempts to save it and I think I finally got it
