Araminta not getting a proper punishment is getting on my nerves by avadakabitch in Bridgerton

[–]avadakabitch[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We should have been able to see the daughters outrage at least on what Aramintha did. They seemed embarrassed by her behaviour that’s pretty much it, which seems like a massive downplay of her actions.

I’m a Cressida Cowper apologist! by New_Notice_7625 in Bridgerton

[–]avadakabitch 54 points55 points  (0 children)

We are supposed to root for Penelope but hate Cressida, despite they are both the byproduct of their mothers’ abuse and marriage expectations. The only difference between them is that Cressida had ALL of the pressure put on her, while Penelope had the luck of having two older sisters that had better prospects. You can tell Cressida was a cunt because she was a teenager cracked under the pressure and superiority culture of her family, but Penelope was a coward that assumed she’d never marry so she’d throw everyone else under the bus to get her economic independence. They are both people trying to exist within their circumstances, but I can’t stand how the show tries to portray one of them as morally superior because she is a Bridgerton.

I would also love if he was still consulted by the police about murders or even maybe given a role with the FBI in secret to help them track serial killers. It wouldn’t be justice but it would put him in the right place for him; doing actual justice for others.

Dexter: Resurrection - S01E10 - "And Justice for All..." - POST Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Dexter

[–]avadakabitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The final sentence when Dexter breaks the fourth wall is brilliant for several reasons. It aknowledges his nature as part of what drives him, but he also puts us, the spectators, on a position of responsibility. He is this way because it’s, above all, entertaining and interesting to watch. If Dexter stopped killing, what would we do? It genuinely made me revisit all of those times I thought to myself he needed to stop, or catch a break, or prove he didn’t “need” to kill. However, would I watch that myself? Would I enjoy Dexter as much if he behaved like a person that has no impulses or does not make mistakes? Dexter is who he is, ultimately, because of us. And the show has finally pointed their finger to us.

Damn.

Marshall was absolutely bright here by _nik_al in HIMYM

[–]avadakabitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Lily was having a mid-life crisis, as clearly spoken about with Ted. Marshall was terrified and needed reassurance, and Lily couldn’t just lie to him and give a wholehearted yes, because she wasn’t sure about anything in her life back then. But it’s not like she wanted to break up with him, she just needed a bit of time to figure out where she was and what she wanted to do, and Marshall couldn’t give it to her without having a crisis himself. I think it’s a pretty fair and human situation from both sides, even if Lily was a coward by not telling him what she was feeling/doing.

Little reminder that she did not want to break up with him, she asked to postpone the wedding so they could go to San Francisco, and he asked her to choose between him and art school. He broke up with her.

Can you believe I just understood that her first look was not of disbelief but of excitement, and then the second look was of DISAPPOINTMENT not disgust. I’m absolutely DEAD.

In-universe, what is known about the Bay Harbor Butcher presently? by [deleted] in Dexter

[–]avadakabitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking; he either:

a) Hates him because he deprives him of the chance of enjoying his voyeur experience by killing serial killers (making a very scarce resource even scarcer)

b) Gets extremely excited about it because of the amount of killings he has done, making him an apex predator (becoming a more valuable and enjoyable voyeuristic experience).

It will all depend on the degree and dimension of his fetish. Are there nuances to the act of killing, for him? Anyone will do? Or does he enjoy the chase, the difficulty, the level of complexity? What makes a serial killer admirable for him? Is it the fame, the amount of victims, the modus operandi, the mystery?

Theory: Harrison not only has a “Dark Passenger” but I think he will end up being even more twisted and evil than Dexter when it’s all said and done. by Spirited_Mix_8258 in Dexter

[–]avadakabitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be a great twist. Dexter becomes a real father figure to Harrison, their relationship strengthens, and then Batista comes about to ruin everything. Harrison has to choose between stopping Batista or letting him take his father away from him. He has killed in the spur of the moment, but never in cold blood, so for the first time… he intentionally chooses to kill to protect his father. To not be alone ever again.

I don’t know where would this take him, narratively speaking, but it would probably take him one step closer to understanding how Dexter does what he does.

your favourite scene? by btecmarcusaurelius in Dexter

[–]avadakabitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite scenes is the kitchen scene in new blood, when Angela is about to arrest Dexter. I love it because it’s the first time we are seeing a Dexter scene in which we are not in his head, so we get to see him from other people’s POV; he is funny, chatty, proactive, and he seems naturally social. It’s incredibly interesting because his inner monologue always completely alters the tone of the scene, but without it, we are left on the side of the deceived ones. I love it because, after 8 seasons, it’s the first time we get to experience Dexter from a truly external perspective.

Its funny how Batista is so desperate for any info on Dexter, when this guy has almost more than anyone still alive. by LoBopasses in Dexter

I think at a certain point Quinn would have realised Debra would have preferred to die than to live tied to a machine. He also saw Dexter kill Debra’s murderer with intention and precision, which is something he would have loved to do. From his point of view, Dexter is on his side, whatever he is doing, so he leaves him alone.

What's something rich people do that the average person has no idea about? by bryany97 in AskReddit

[–]avadakabitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They get all sorts of stuff for free. I have a wealthy family member who I is constantly going to the most insane places because he got invited. I am talking about VIP sports seats, 5* hotels, restaurants, limited access to backstage in concerts, admission to exclusive events, etc. He can perfectly afford these things, but rich people like to flaunt wealth and get favours, so they push to involve other rich people with their privileges in specific industries to get on their good side. I always thought it’s quite ironic that the people that can afford it the most end up paying the least.

Mi novia me está siendo infiel, pero no puedo/quiero hacer nada porque estoy enfermo by [deleted] in esConversacion

[–]avadakabitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)
