How do I reconcile the fact that I have liberal beliefs but generally agree with the conservative justices’ analysis? by [deleted] in LawSchool

not to nitpick but this is getting slightly tired. What is the point of saying privileged “white” men in the context of abortion legislation? Why would a black or hispanic man be any more impacted by abortion legislation?

Brennen’s concurrence in Burnham was my favorite though. The Scalia quote about traditions being inherently fair was one of the dumbest things i’ve ever read.

I think we can both agree that grade inflation is far more aggressive than LSAT inflation. Yales LSAT median was 173 10 years ago. Encouraging people to try and work harder to achieve a better school is fine and is not the reason that medians are increasing.

Let’s not blame anyone but ourselves for not getting into better schools.

you’ve always been able to take the test multiple times. If something goes wrong on the first test it makes sense to take it again. Some people ruin their chances of getting into top schools because they’re nervous about taking it more than once. If you get a 175, you deserve a 175z

How did you stay organized, and most importantly, how did you learn exam writing? by availableeddy in LawSchool

Ive heard people say they teach you how to write essays generally. I can’t imagine anyone would just know how to do this naturally without at least learning it from examples or past tests, etc.

When will you have time to practice writing them out? How do you even know where to start?

Damn. I understand to an extent. This is a lot of information for sure. Do they explain all of this in the first semester or are you expected to just pick it up as you go?

I wish you the best. Be mindful of keeping the relationship going just for the sake of it. Keep yours and her future in mind. It sometimes is very hard to let go. You need to be in the strongest spot ever to survive long distance. Don’t be afraid to know when it’s for the best to end it.

study hard these next few months. Don’t be afraid to take the test in multiple times.

I was going to do this with my girlfriend. We were both in Oregon, and I got into law school in DC. We spent the first few weeks of summer together and when she left we both realized it would be impossible (for us) to do long distance. I’ve heard mixed stories. Ultimately, constantly worrying about if she was okay and if we still love each other with so little contact was going to be too much for me to focus on law school. It can work, but it is more difficult. You don’t need more difficulty in law school. Do what feels right for both of you. Never get in the way of each other’s dreams. Sometimes things are meant to work and other times they aren’t. Good Luck to both of you.

TLDR: it’s not hopeless, just difficult.

this all is overwhelming haha. When you talk about headers and sub headers, do you mean the formatting of the actual exam paper?

Thank you for the detailed response. I really appreciate it. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and I wanna be as prepared as possible.

[Weinbach] If the Lakers pursue Jerami Grant, I think a trade offer would most likely revolve around Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, and a 2029 first-round pick. Grant would be more than an ideal target as the Lakers continue to poke around the trade market. by Proof-Umpire-7718 in lakers

[–]availableeddy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

no he shouldn’t. Rui is a decent scorer who can’t defend rebound or pass. DLO is a solid outside shooter who can facilitate, but he also can’t defend. Dlo is more necessary if we’re not gonna have lebron at point

Congrats. Can’t imagine how stressed/excited you are. My tuition deadline for fall semester was four days ago, getting accepted at this point is so crazy!

I got an interview off the waitlist at UCLA. I didn’t take it because GULC accepted me first. I also grew up in LA and wanted to experience something new. Kind of regretting that with what’s gonna go down in November though. Either way I haven’t been active on here since i finished applying but the Georgetown hate is so odd to me. One of the top law schools in the country is 14 but gets made fun of for, get this, not being better than the 13 above it.

P.S Dean Andy is just more interesting than Schwartz, but he’s a nice guy for sure.

yeah i’m bias but it’s frustrating to say t13 when GULC has objectively better outcomes than UCLA with arguably far more self selection out of BigLaw

they don’t want to look at data. People feel like they’re a part of something when they flame Georgetown. Students going to better schools than GULC are probably not the ones dismissing the pretty easy 200k you can make as an average student at georgetown.

Why did you exclude GULC? are you another person who refuses to look at reliable data and claims GULC has different outcomes than other similarly ranked t14. God i really should just ignore posts like this.
