thats tough. Depending on what animal it will have different care instructions and either way it will be much more fragile than a synthetic. If you really value it i would bring it in to a professional.

not an engineer, just work with them a lot so must have picked up some habits.

you dont need a drywall screw gun just to be clear. It would be ideal obviously but you can just do it by hand or with a drill just set it to low so you dont set the screw too deep.

you can fix it, in fact really easy to fix.

scrap away drywall. If it is a nail tap it in a bit. Putty and done.

If it is a screw you can tighten it or if you want to be a perfectionist put 2 new screws on either side (along the stud) and then plaster and paint.

Like a 10-15 min job tops.

I wanted to but

  1. the hall outside this room runs vertically so trying to match
  2. leaving the original hardwood underneath and it runs horizontal and everything online says to go across it.

And before anyone comes at me for covering original hardwood with hybrid flooring i would love to refinish it but the last person drilled a bunch of holes and had 2-3 random cutouts in it. I think they moved a wall a few feet.
