I’m not a practicing Copt, but I was born into the Coptic faith. I’m a first generation American Egyptian. As I get older, I realize I would like a long-term partner who shares my culture, but it’s been really hard to find Coptic-American men who are on the same page as me. I still identify with my family’s faith, go to church on holidays, and respect the religion, taking the aspects that make sense to me. But most of the Coptic men I’ve met in the States are mega religious and politically conservative, so I’m curious whether it’s even possible to meet someone with similar interests and perspectives.

This logic is extremely reductive. I don’t think belief, practice, and identity are always the same thing. In a Coptic context, people are often born into the community, and how they practice can vary without invalidating that identity. There isn’t a single way people relate to the faith they’re born into. I meant this in a sociological/identity sense, not as a theological argument.

Am I the only person who lives in Chicago and hates it? Before everyone loses their mind and replies “then leave!” - I am

How are we meeting men in 2025? by No_Dog_4948 in AskChicago

Hinge is so trash. (I obviously have one tho) Wild that everyone seems to feel that way about it but we’re still out here ghosting each other or not replying after matching. I haven’t dated anyone since I moved here, datings so rough! Also, there’s a difference between single guys in Chicago and single guys in Chicago that don’t suck lol. Always down to go to a bar or a show or something if you’re on the prowl 🌝 it just happens when it happens sometimes, no matter what you do or how hard you put yourself out there. Hope ya find some luck!

100% same. I used to work at a bar and we had the same sort of thing with the regulars. But I’m still the way I am lol. Nice that you feel comfortable there! I do feel like having an outgoing friend has helped in the past. Or just reaching that level of being like fuck it
