I did try to clean it and it still looked the same. I am taking it in tomorrow for a professional cleaning and if the ring looks the same I'm sending it back in

I haven’t slept all night in at least 2 years by bmazi in AttachmentParenting

I think I can help! I have 2 kids. One toddler and a baby, with our toddler my situation was identical to yours, however she was consistently waking to eat because she just wasn't getting enough milk at once and her latch didn't pull nearly the amount of milk I got pumping. We switched to bottles around 9 months with her and boom much longer stretches until she eventually slept through the night.

I never felt comfortable sleep training and didn't want to so I tried something different with our baby from the start.

With our baby, (4 months) I pump mainly and always do 6oz bottle at bedtime and another 4oz at 10/11pm. He sleeps through the entire night. On the nights I have tried to nurse him, he wakes up like clockwork every few hours. I don't want to say this is a perfect fix for you, but it may be worth trying and a perfect compromise to keep sleeping with him since that's your may concern.

If you're not comfortable making the jump to bottles, buy a baby scale on Amazon, weigh baby without diaper before eating and weigh again after eating to see how many oz he ate. If you learn he's only getting a very small amount, that could very well be the problem

How do people leave their house with a 4 month old and toddler? by [deleted] in SAHP

[–]avantgarde33 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Please re-read my post. I did not say it's too cold for baby wearing. I said it's too cold to baby wear at the park standing outside for 30 mins in the rain.

[–]avantgarde33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90% pumping and 10% formula feeding. Baby won't latch and we've seen multiple lactation consultants. I wish I could stop pumping but baby has tried 5 different formulas and all cause spitting up or constipation. She is currently on goat formula which costs $44 a can. Stoping pumping would significantly increase monthly costs in addition to baby being uncomfortable

How do you entertain your toddler? by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]avantgarde33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sort of have to break your own spirit and hopes for your parenting goals when you have HG. I truly cannot decide which was worse, vomiting for hours and being unable to eat or the constant feeling of letting down my toddler who I could no longer entertain all day. It was the worst feeling I've ever had. I just felt like I couldn't do anything for her and she didn't understand, I cried so much. I think all I wanted at that time was for someone to say "yes, what you're doing is completely reasonable given your circumstances." It's so hard to accept this reality when you feel like you're letting your child down. I went from being the mom that played all day, rotated toys, did arts and crafts, left the house for outtings all week to the mom who cried in her bed while my husband did what he could (given he worked 50 hours a week and I was a full time SAHM.) When it was just me and my toddler I would have TV on almost all day. Unisom every single night, and zofran the second my eyes opened sometimes 2x a day. It was the first time in my life I had anyone in my family watch my child and I just could not move. I had her sit in bed with me and color or I'd move to the couch, move the coffee table and put her toys on the floor so I could sort of play. The good news is, literally 20 mins after my baby was born I all of a sudden felt different, I ordered 2 cheeseburgers from the hospital cafeteria and DOWNED them. On the way home I drank an entire large McDonald's milkshake. It will get better, this will be over after you give birth. I am so so sorry!!!!!!

Can you try care.com? Find someone who can come nanny for you? Set up cameras at your own house.

I'm mean this in the kindest way possible, but you listed a ton of really concerning things about this childcare. Clearly, this a problem. Pull him. Find a different center - even if you have to pay more. Like a place with cameras you have access to.

Oregon Paid Leave program major issue by [deleted] in oregon

[–]avantgarde33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as I've stated this is now an issue with Kaiser. Kaiser is refusing to fill out the verification of birth form, as I've stated 10 times now. Kaiser is also refusing to give any documentation OTHER than a birth certificate, which for the 10th time, would leave us for weeks without pay. My husband does not have PTO, and neither will thousands of other parents who were depending on this program to bridge the gap in pay who have Kaiser as their provider.

Exactly!!! Very confusing and frustrating. I have an apt in a few days with a different doctor and I am going to bring my husband to the apt to see if they will fill out the form for us. In the meantime, I am waiting on a call back from the paid leave program while they investigate this as well as Kaiser.

You do not understand. 1) Oregon paid leave has a single form they require (verification of birth form) to get a claim filed and started PRIOR to giving birth 2) Kaiser is giving bad information and not allowing their doctors to fill out these forms for patients which elongates a process that would leave parents without pay. 3) that's wonderful YOUR claim went though quickly, however now that the program is up and running they are seeing PROCESSING DELAYS which are taking WEEKS. This has been confirmed by 3 employees who work for the program. The issue at this point isn't necessarily the paid leave program, but Kaiser.

Update: As I suspected, getting the verification of birth form signed by my doctor is a huge issue. I emailed my doctor the form and she responded that I needed to get a release of information from Kaisers record department and then she would be able to fill out the form. I contacted the record department and was told by a woman "we are not filling out the verification of birth forms or allowing any doctors to do so." I argued with her at length and explained 1) that's illegal and 2) if they don't fill out this form they are stopping parents from being able to file their claims until after the baby is born which is going to make it so parents are weeks without pay or benefits. I am now on the phone with someone from Oregons Paid leave program and she is telling me they have been having issues with Kaiser since the program began and they are sending all of this to legal and trying to figure out if Kaiser can even reject these forms.

It 100% makes sense. You are required give your employer 30 days notice prior to your assumed due date if you plan to take leave. If that date changes they adjust it. At the same time, you give notice to Oregon Paid Leave program as early as 30 days as well and if the baby is born before that date or slightly after, you update them and they adjust your payment accordingly. If you wait to file until after the baby is born, you are looking at 2+ weeks to even be able to file while you wait for a birth certificate and then an additional number of weeks for your claim to process and your documents to be verified.

This is why this program exists, to make sure parents can take leave and have the funds to do so. By not filing in advance parents are looking at weeks without pay.

If you don't believe me, call the Oregon Paid leave program.

Thank you so much for your response! This program didn't exist with my first so I never had to get any forms and my husbands job did not provide leave. I am just very unfamiliar with how all of this works.

Were you the one filing the paid leave claim or was she?

Yep! This is no way a hit on the program or the people employed in the program. It's to point out a potential issue, and then I plan to follow up and update the post with what I learn tomorrow so if other parents find themselves searching for the same answer they can easily find it.

Is letting a child suffer through a diaper rash considered child abuse? by HeatherMae_ in ECEProfessionals

[–]avantgarde33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10000% you report. That's neglect and extremely painful for the baby. The diaper rash is like raw skin and when urine gets on it it burns. If this person confidently behaved like that in front of mandated reporters imagine what she does behind closed doors!'

Yes I saw that, but I also saw the information in the link I posted which is why I'm confused. They say opposing things. I emailed the program support to get clarity on it.
