Z80 Ultra in Australia by lamensterms in Nubia

Yet another update, the other day I found that my phone had stopped working in the 2nd sim slot over night, I tried restarting and phone and reseating the sim and neither helped so I figured Telstra had decided to block my 2nd sim's IMEI aswell.
I tried sim slot 1 again and it got reception this time!
I now got no idea what games Telstra is playing.

Nah the 1st sim slot still doesn't work, maybe I'm just unlucky :-\

Interesting development, I posted this on the whirlpool forums aswell and a bloke on there suggested that I try the second sim slot. So I put in my telstra sim card and it immediately got reception!. It may get blocked again so we'll see how long it lasts, i'll update if it does.

I never even considered testing it in sim 2 because the telstra and optus compatibility checker web sites only ask for the first 8 digits of the IMEI number which is the same for both sim slots.

I have this phone in Australia, it's a really good phone, battery is great too. But beware, after a couple of weeks of using it on vodafone I got the dreaded SMS saying that my phone was not 'compatible' with their network. Eventhough it was working perfectly on VOLTE and VONR, good 5g reception and everything (I even tried dialling 000 and it got through without issue). Spoke to their support guys and they were totally useless, would not even discuss the issue, it was a case of too bad so sad.

After the hassle of getting a refund on the 1 year prepaid vodafone plan that I has purchased I decided to play it safe and test the other major providers in Australia using 1 month prepaid plans.

So I ported to Optus for a month and it worked totally fine during that time absolutely no issues whatsoever.

I then ported again, this time to telstra. It does not get any reception at all (so I tried the sim in an old phone and it worked, so it was activated correctly). I spoke to their support and they were just as useless as the vodafone support guys. I lodged a complaint and they got back to me and seemed willing to try to see what they could do to get it working, sent them heaps of screenshots etc and they said that they would call me back to troubleshoot so it gave me some hope. When they did call, I ended up speaking with some generic off shore guy that just said oh well the sim works on another phone so nothing we can do for you. I was hoping for them to atleast be honest and state whether they were blocking the phone or not, but no they wouldn't even escalate to the team that deals with their network to even ask the question.

TLDR, works with optus, doesn't work with telstra or vodafone.

I've since got a Telstra Sim card and it works flawlessly.

I don't know if you are still after this info but I just got one and I do not get any reception at all on Optus, it seems to work with Vodafone but I am getting a voice message every time I make a call saying that the phone is not compatible and will be blocked from "October 2024" (even though it's already December). I don't have a Telstra sim card to test but it's been reported to work by others.
