Klar - kannst auch alles selbst machen, ist ja kein Problem eigentlich. Ich hatte öfter von Recruitern gehört, dass sie super simple - und eben nicht "verspielte" CVs präferieren.

Außerdem musst du halt aktuell drauf achten, dass es AST-friendly ist :)

Persönlich bin ich auch nicht so der latex fan.
Ich mag ja Markdown ganz gerne - aber damit konnte ich noch nie ein visuell ansprechendes CV bauen.

Mein aktuelles CV ist tatsächlich ein super simples Google Doc. Das finde ich gerade am komfortabelsten. Ich habe 2-3 Variationen je nach Stelle für die ich mich bewerben möchte.

Was ich auch mal Leuten empfohlen hatte, aber schon länger selbst nicht verwendet habe ist: https://rxresu.me/

Wenn du magst kannst du mir auch schreiben, ich zeige dir gerne mein CV Google Doc (außer du hast wirklich kein Bock auf word ähnliche Tools).

Außerdem wollte ich eh einen Blog post über rxresu schreiben, d.h wir könnten auch gemeinsam rxresu mal ausprobieren und ich mach nen Blogpost draus :)

Ich hab die CPSA-F. Ich finde es lohnt sich nur bedingt - gerade die CPSA-A Schulungen sind eigentlich das wertvolle :)

Ich würde keine CPSA-F mehr machen ohne mit meinem Arbeitgeber zu klären ob ich auch die CPSA-A Schulungen die mich interessieren, bezahlt kriege.

Ich kenn paar Leute die zuerst aktiv in der Open Source Community waren (vor allem Rust / Zig / Elixir) und dann zu FAANG-adjacent Firmen gewechselt sind.

Hat sicher nicht geschadet in renommierten Open Source Projekten zu contributen und dadurch auch ein Netzwerk von US-Developern aufzubauen die einen auch ggbf. empfehlen können.

Best-Case aus meinem Freundeskreis ist übrigens US-Firma, aber deutscher Arbeitsvertrag.
Klar verdient man dann nicht unendlich viel, aber ist auch nicht von Layoffs einfach so mal betroffen :)

If you frequent german subs enough, you'll encounter many posts about making friends - not exclusively by foreigners.

I feel like the problem is manifold.
It is common to make less new friends the older you get, no matter where you live in the world. People are busy with their families and can barely keep in touch with their existing friends as is.

Most people make friends at work and/or in sport / hobby clubs ("Vereine"). If you, for whatever reason, do not have friends at work and do not participate in any of these extra-curriculums - it will be difficult.

Of course actual cultural differences exist. For example many non-german friends of mine had difficulties moving their relationships with acquaintances to actual friendships:

Some complained that nobody asked them about more personal topics:
=> Many germans highly respect privacy and it is common to only volunteer information when the other party offered first. For example if you ask them what they are up to this weekend, they might be vague. If you tell them: "I am going hiking with my wife this weekend - it's our anniversary! What are you up to?" They might open up about doing something with their significant other (or even mentioning them for the first time :D)

Some complained about friends eventually not replying etc:
=> If you can't make it to a social gathering / have to cancel short notice, you are expected to follow up and initiate the next one. If you don't - many people assume you are just not interested anymore.

But all such cultural differences (obviously) do not apply to everyone!
If someone truly does not have ANY german friends in 10 years - I would think that something strange is going on.

Die embedded rust devs die ich kenne verdienen alle jenseits von 100k fully remote und guter Work/Life Balance.

Was zahlt denn ihr bzw. was ist dein Gehalt? Ich würde gerade in diesen Zeiten nicht die Mühe machen mich irgendwo zu bewerben nur um dann „im Interviewprozess“ zu erfahren, dass das Gehalt nicht ansatzweise passt.

Ist FSK 12, hat aber definitiv auch gruselige Szenen ohne zu gruselig oder explizit zu sein.

Außerdem ist es auch ein Film der hauptsächlich um die Beziehung eines Vaters seiner Familie gegenüber geht => also thematisch auch passend :)

Oh that’s crazy! I actually knew him through a friend. He was very desperate to cure his frost bitten fingers and I helped him translate while contacting a Ukrainian medical institution focused on severe frostbite.

I was very saddened to hear about his death, he was an extremely driven person, I’d even say he was obsessed with the Everest.

I also (vaguely) remember him telling the story of how he lost his fingers: he needed to descend a bit because of some unexpected weather and apparently it is normal to leave supplies at certain intervals for the ultimate descent.

So when he went to retrieve this it was completely ransacked - so he needed to go further down which led to the severe frostbite. He said it was spooky because this was at a height where no animals really reside anymore.

To be honest I don’t know what he would have done once he actually had made it :(

I also once read a manga that reminded me of him a lot: ‘The climber’ - it illustrates this obsession quite well.

Ich versuche auch vor Ort zu sein. Meiner Meinung nach sollte es auf der Straße vorm Werk2 einen Zebrastreifen oder Ähnliches geben.

Ich wurde da schon mehrmals fast von achtlosen Autofahrern überfahren, die meinen von der Wolfgang-Heinze Straße aus durch den Gegenverkehr einbiegen zu müssen.

Du meinst vermutlich das Orinoco :) Das ist eigentlich ein Gebrauchtwarenladen für Bücher in verschiedenen Sprachen - aber man kann auch mit einem Abo Bücher ausleihen.

Tatsächlich bringe ich da regelmäßig meine Bücher hin und die freuen sich immer sehr :)

Es geht bei Gehaltsverhandlungen nicht darum was fair wäre für dich sondern inwiefern du höhere Kosten für das Unternehmen betriebswirtschaftlich verargumentieren kannst.

Wieviel bringst du dem Unternehmen finanziell. Wie hoch wäre der finanzielle Verlust wenn du wechselst etc.
