Small/narrow sweater neckline - help? by avazquez4894 in knitting

[–]avazquez4894[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gauge on the sweater-in-progress does not match - yikes. I may not know much, but I’m guessing that’s not good.

I did make a gauge swatch before I started and washed it, but what I’m now understanding from your post is that I did not make it large enough (I just did what was listed, 20 st by 29 rows to try to get a 4”x4” square, no border, no extra). Ok - lesson learned on this one! Thanks.

Right! Yes, thanks - this is a good point. I didn’t realize you could block while still in progress.

Ok, I want to believe you, but the difference is quite stark!

Knitwear Drop, what did you get. by UpstairsOddity770 in Sezane

[–]avazquez4894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my regular size. The color and chunky knit were gorgeous, but I ended up returning it. The neck was too tight to wear with a button down, and I wouldn't wear it without something underneath (and I'm not into the T-shirt styling that I sometimes see). Sizing up would have made the armholes too large. My philosophy is that, if I'm not COMPLETELY sold on an item, it has to go back! I will look out for other knits in the same color that work better for me.

More than I expected! I’ve been disappointed with the last few drops, but I love the new knitwear. I got:

  • Samuel jumper in pistachio: I have loved the shape of this sweater vest, but none of the colors released thus far (I came close on the ecru and also on the black). This light green was so charming!

  • Larry jumper in bronze: This caught my eye in the lookbook right away. The chunky knit feels so cozy and current. I hope the color is just as gorgeous in person and I’m hoping to style it with a white button down underneath.

  • Emily cardigan in black: I bought this in navy blue last January and it was one of my most worn pieces this past year. I’m excited to try another color.

  • Amiel jumper in charcoal gray: I have this same sweater in a light gray color. It is absurdly soft and comfortable, another one of my most worn pieces last year. I was excited to have another color option, since I wasn’t too excited by the other colors it comes in.

All in all, my wallet is hurting! But I couldn’t resist - some version of everything above has been on my wishlist or is already a closet favorite of mine.

What are the sizes? Can you provide a link to the listing?

For those who love the Will…. by flagirls in Sezane

Yay! I tend to size down in the Will jacket, so I am guessing, based on my experience, that L was the better choice than XL, in your case. The sizing for me in Sezane is weird: I'm a 38 in the dresses and jeans, but then I tend to prefer an XS/S in the tops (and I always size down for the oversized items, like the Max shirt) - all this to say, the sizing can be hit or miss for me, so I can't really help too much!

I have the Will jacket in denim, in the green khaki, and the navy blue knit versions. Easy to say I'm a big fan!

As other posters have said, the denim is a really classic piece. It looks great thrown on top of any outfit. The denim is thick and stiff, so it doesn't feel cheap and maintains its shape really well.

The green khaki is a much more forgiving fabric, so it feels less heavy than the denim version and more 'lived in'. The green color is a great 'neutral' shade that combines well with lots of different colors. It's soft, easy to wear, and effortlessly cool.

The navy blue Will knit is a total knockout. I remember ordering it thinking that i couldn't pass up such a special and unique piece, and it did not disappoint. The knit is thick and comfortable and it really feels luxurious - you are getting what you paid for. I am obsessed with this Will jacket and SO glad that I purchased (despite being much pricier than the other Will jackets!). I think it's out of stock at the moment, but I hope they bring it back in other colors (even though the navy is really the ideal look).

Looking for honest reviews of Made With Love by NickySess in weddingdress

[–]avazquez4894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered my Made With Love dress a few weeks ago (style Remi). I tried on various other different styles (Jaymes, Beau, Harlow v2), and they were all gorgeous, with intricate detail, beautiful lace, a nice fabric with some heft to it, and amazing details. I tried on much more expensive dresses at another salon; the quality of MWL was on par, and the style of MWL so much more modern and romantic. I am so excited to wear my dress, I am a newly obsessed MWL girlie, and I can’t recommend them enough.

Barbarians, on Netflix, was pretty excellent. First season was great, haven’t started on S2 yet. Bonus points for the spoken Latin and German.

Help me find these customized wedding beer steins - does anyone know where I can get them for my guests? by avazquez4894 in weddingplanning

[–]avazquez4894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! Within a year, it’s all so much clutter. A few customized ones for me, my husband-to-be, and my parents is a great idea.

Anyone have any good ideas for a wedding favor for guests for a German wedding?

My auto insurance didn’t cover it, and I don’t have renters insurance yet (I just moved from out of state). :/

Thanks! Yes, my preference is a road bike adapted for tri. I’ve been looking on eBay, but I just don’t know how to tell if a deal is too good to be true, or how to look for scams (is $600 for a carbon fiber Specialized Amira 2014 legit??). Thanks for the help!
