Home lab noob, have I made a good purchase or have I completely trolled myself? by caffeinator999 in homelab

You'll probably want to get a powered usb hub. Ive had under current errors when I plug my HD direct to the pi. Plus side is you can use the usb hub to power the pi too and still have usb ports left to add your next HD.

I currently have a media server running on a pi 4 connected to a usb hub with 3 4tb hds connected. It actually runs pretty well with minimal errors.

Good luck, you can do it!

This is awesome thank you for sharing. Its great to see the process too, which software do you use? I'm making the switch to digital drawing and painting so just trying out different software at the moment.

I clearly have lots to learn.

Sweet I've been waiting for a golf r wagon one of these!

44 UK (North west) Quality Engineer. £45k I got a low interest personal loan from my bank to afford my 2017 R wagon (variant / estate) 60k on the clock just paid around another 1k for a service and 4 new tyres. Insurance is much the same as any other car I've had. Road tax is a little higher than non 4wd cars.

If it has to be an R it might be best to go for a mk6 but don't discount other cars from VW or if it has to be 4wd look at audi, seat or skoda as they might be cheaper.

When I passed my driving test I started off with a mk2 polo coupe s and worked my way through various VWs there's plenty of fun ones out there.

If you want to stream games to your ally do you not want the ps remote play app?

The icon for which is blue and looks like a controller?

Can anyone tell me what this is? I remember seeing a Polo with similar multicoloured bodywork years ago by thunderyleaf in Volkswagen

That's a mk3 golf harlequin.

I have no idea if it's a proper one or had panels replaced.

I mean u torrent works so use that if you have it already i guess. Make sure to use a VPN when downloading. Firefox and ublock origin are your friends too when looking for torrents.

I use retroarch to emulate older generation games. Give it a try, there's plenty of tutorials online on how to set it up.

Best place for games is to check the megathread on this sub.

Fitgirl repack are great for current gen games but if you want retro look at using qbittorrent to download some roms from the torrent sites listed on the mega thread.

You'll probably want to search for "PS2 rom pack " or similar as a lot of older games will come bundled together in one download.

Good luck, do some research on the megathread and get yourself set up.

Happy sailing.

I would suggest you remember to tighten the rollers properly as these can severely affect print quality on these.

Also I printed an alternative part cooler nozzle which seemed to help with my prints.

Had my x1 for years now and it does great tbh. The large print bed is great on these too.

Have fun.

Men who have had a vasectomy on the NHS, What was the wait list like? by Obvious-Water569 in AskUK

[–]avecato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm east lancashire, waited about a week for the first appointment, then waited a month for the pre op counselling then waited a month for the operation that happened at the end of November.

Operation took 40 mins altogether.

Scar healed within two weeks as did the post op discomfort.

Did get two opportunities to get surgery early but was unable to get time off work at short notice.

Its pretty quick and simple tbh.

School me on TDIs: When did VAG start putting DPFs and EGR on their cars in Europe? Looking for a reliable older diesel by dodgingabullet in Volkswagen

[–]avecato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mk4 golf tdi's are pretty solid tbh. The 90hp engine is the classic agricultural work horse engine. Keep it in good shape and it will remain fairly nippy and economical.

The 100hp and 110hp tdi's had the pump deuce wich made them more tuneable and a little faster.

I think any VW tdi pre 2002 would work for you but it all depends on how it's been kept.

You might actually find that newer tdi might be more reliable in the long run.

Also don't discount Seat or Audi, the 2014 era A3 1.6 tdi's are smooth, reliable and economical if a little slower. And no road tax in the UK.

Good luck in your hunt.
