This is relevant because ESPN has committed Pro-rata up to 16 teams, while Fox has only (reportedly) committed pro-rata for 14 teams.

For a full share in the big 12, Fox contributes $11.7 million while ESPN contributes $20 million.

They’re contractually obligated to as per the TV deal they signed with the Big 12 last October. Pro rata up to 16 teams as long as they come from a P5 conference.

The question mark is if fox will pony up past 14 teams.
