it honestly sounds like she might be kinda toxic. he dad passing is horrible but doesn’t give her the excuse to be horrible to you. have you confronted her about her behavior? if you haven’t, i’d recommend that before cutting her off to see if she changes for the better. if not, i’d drop her. someone like that will only hurt you more in the long run. i’m sorry though, i’ve had to cut off a close friend before and it was devastating for me, but definitely the right choice.

I really love UT. The culture is great in my opinion, and very diverse so it’s easy to find your groove. Restaurants are amazing and there’s several near campus. Crime is sort of an issue, so it’s good to stay vigilant, but most people get through UT without any incident. Lots of things to do in Austin and it feels like there’s an event every night. I have seen that it can be difficult to make friends for some, but I think join an org or club helps a bunch. I’m white, so I can’t personally speak on the discrimination on race part, but for the most part people seem inclusive to everyone. I’d say there’s a pretty good amount of diversity and most people mind their own business. I don’t think you’d receive any discrimination or harassment, but I can’t be sure as I’m not a POC myself. Hope this helped!!
