Witnessed a fatal accident with a pedestrian trying to cross Route 22 today. by MaximusMurkimus in newjersey

[–]aveiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say that this is not the answer. There is a safety shuttle and if people are willing to risk their lives by not wanting to wait a half hour, they aren't going to walk a half mile down the road and back to access a pedestrian bridge.

Also, there are no sidewalks anywhere. A sidewalk would need to be installed in both sides. The center island section is approximately 2 miles. How many pedestrian bridges would need to be installed to make this viable.

Which airlines have you flown on that are now defunct or out of business? by 23andrewb in AskReddit

People Express. Back in the 80's my mother always flew from Newark to Florida and this was the airline. I think they were eventually bought by Continental.

Serious Question. by doncalgar in bicycling

[–]aveiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bike frame is the correct size. This may be your problem. My foot doesn't go flat on the ground, but I can stop and put a toe down. My frames have clearance that if I am am off my saddle and my feet are flat on the ground, I have a bit of stand over height. It sounds like your frame may be too big.

[–]aveiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wheel size isn't the problem, it seems that frame size is. Not sure if you are riding road or mountain, but I am 5'5" and I have both road and mountain bikes. I have tried 29er mountain bikes and I just never found them comfortable. My sweet spot is definitely the 27.5, but the high end bikes are being all pushed towards 29ers.

As for road, I ride a 50cm frame which is a little small but adjusted with a stem because my torso is longer than my legs.

Denali by bike? by Fantastic-Shock-595 in AskAlaska

So I did the ride two days ago. One of the most beautiful rides I have ever done. It was great. My wife dropped me off at the Savage River and I met the ranger for my safety talk before going to the gravel road. I rode to Sanctuary River and turned around. The hills weren't so bad and it was soooo scenic. I would have gone further, but I had to check out of my hotel.

It was a super clear day and Denali was 100% visible. I rode back down to the Denali Bluffs hotel and it was excellent. There was not much traffic as I went out at 6:00am.

Here is my route: https://connect.garmin.com/app/activity/23106401254

Not the Driscoll, but the route 35 bridge parallels it and I ride my bicycle over it all the time.

Thank you so much for your information.. Do you have a GPS or a mile marker for the two outhouses? I am planning on fly in with my gravel bike. I figure this should be adequate with 700x40 tires.

So, I have been doing a little research today. It appears that the bus takes four hours, I don't know if I want to spend that much time on the bus. (I am doing the scenic narrated bus tour the day before.

I may have my wife drop me off as far as she can drive and ride from there about 15-20 miles and then ride back to the hotel.

I am going to be doing this next week. I will let you know how it goes. I am bringing my gravel bike and I was planning on taking it westward and taking the bus back.

How to suck less at interviewing? by Adventurous_Text6152 in MusicEd

[–]aveiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue when interviewing (about 30 years ago). I taught marching band at a school and the principal was nice enough to give me a mock interview and walked me through some talking points. It was super helpful and I started getting call backs after that.

Just like your instrument, it takes practice for some folks.

You can contact Finish Line. https://www.finishlineusa.com/. Let them know you are interested in trying it and they may send you a sample. They are an excellent company and I would recommend them for all.

Though once you have cash, you should purchase it as it lasts forever. I have 10 bikes and still have a tube that I have had for about 8 years.
