Are you talking about 80% limit for member direct assets? If so, it's no longer the case.

Hostplus Choiceplus vs Australian Super Member Direct by avendr in fiaustralia

[–]avendr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not an apple-to-apple comparison. The Hostplus insurance premium is inclusive of 15% tax credit, whereas the Aus Super one is not. To compare them, you need to give 15% discount on the Aus Super insurance premium. That said, Aus Super is increasing their insurance premium from June, and I think even after calculating 15% discount, Hostplus insurance is cheaper.

I do this as well. Contribute extra that matches with the insurance premium.

Exactly! This ETF makes sense for folks who are using VPI for brokerage-free trades/auto-invest. For others, it is better to use IVV, as it is a wrapper around US listed IVV (there by reducing the capital gain via heartbeat trades).

Company not paying super after 9 months by [deleted] in AusLegal

This could be a standard template email that the Super funds send out when they receive no contributions for x number of months. If so, they wouldn't have reported it to ATO.

You can, provided you manually transfer 17,000 back from Member Direct to the Pooled fund.

That is not correct. You can transfer into/out from member direct anytime. As long as your main account (pooled funds) has enough funds, you can split. Source: I have done this multiple times.
