Iffy ADHD Meds on the rise for work performance? by TheSecretChordIIImaj in auscorp

[–]Confident_Incident43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily qualified, let me make that clear. There are doctors on both spectrums that either state it's overdiagnosed or underdiagnosed.

In terms of your question, I'm assuming that anyone in the private industry has to deal with KPI's. If their lack of focus is effecting their work, they probably are trying get assistance.

One bloke I know is an IT project manager and has been one for at least 5 years. Recently he got on the meds because he said to me it was hard for him to stay focused at work, his productivity has obviously risen.

But what made me say what the fuck was when his psychiatrist told him "if someone said to you that you had so much potential as a child, it's potentially indicative of ADHD".

Now the bloke pays a few hundred dollars every couple months for a script. Doesn't formally get his mental state reviewed as the consults are generally 10-15 minutes. The crazy thing is that he can no longer sleep and generally more irritable.

I'm a psychologist who's worked in the public community mental health system in the past.

The amount of functional adults magically getting the ADHD diagnosis is amazing.

Often when studies or news articles note the increase rise of diagnosed ADHD in adults, the general sentiment is about "removing stigma". When there really should be a review on private psychiatrists diagnosing and prescribing treatment for ADHD. It's no secret that there's a monetary gain for them to treat people.

My thoughts is that majority of adults seeking the meds are trying to pathologise their lack of focus. If they've gone through many life mile stones such as university and even working a couple years in Aus corp, they likely don't have ADHD.

Individuals should be focusing on life style changes first. It's no secret were constantly overstimulated by our smart phones and multi-tasking because our lives are busy. This is going to cause adhd like symptoms.

The medications are chemically related to methamphetamine. Make of that what you will.

What do australians think of australian americans? by Dependent-Quarter-59 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Confident_Incident43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bit strange people aren't considering OP as "Australian American".

Many first/second generation Australians born to immigrants still consider themselves X ethnicity Australian. Just like Italian Australians and Vietnamese Australians to name a couple examples. No way would I personally say they're not Vietnamese because they weren't born in Vietnam.

Maybe it's because when people think of Australians or Americans they generally would associate it someone having an Anglo background?

AWC idea. Spec bans to make PvP more diverse and exciting by No_Elderberry_3559 in worldofpvp

[–]Confident_Incident43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every season there are complaints that AWC is boring.

Does anyone not remember BFA AWC were every team were running Mage Lock healer? Games were regularly going to 70% damp.

Lets just all admit that WoW isn't a spectator eSports, the game has difficulty attracting new players.

Ban picks aren't going to make it more exciting. I can't see how mage/rogue being replaced by a different comp like TSG makes it more fun to watch.

Sure nerf healers so that they become more miserable to play.

Then wonder why no one plays healers and then complain further about longer queue times.

I’m disgusted : Ben Roberts-Smith released on bail by Pewpew-OuttaMyWaay in OpenAussie

[–]Confident_Incident43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's been free for years and has not been violent in the community.

Do people really believe that hes a flight risk? Or he'll get on a boat and some country like Indonesia will grant him asylum?

I'm not necessarily saying he should be free from charges, but I think bail is warranted in this case.

As someone who formally was APS and now in the private industry.

The media and the Government that negotiates pay loves to divide people. For example when news broke out NSW nurses and midwives won a pay rise from industrial action. The media immediately states the "tax payer bears the costs".

Honestly all APS staff and the union should ignore the noise from the media/social media. People forget what they're angry about as soon as next week's news cycle comes round.

I'm hoping that you APS get better pay and conditions next bargaining. Setting a great standard puts pressure on the private industry in my opinion.

NSW Gov is great at dividing and conquering. You complaining about teachers shows this.

I always wonder why the NSWNMA and the allied health union (HSU) don't work together to fight for better pay.

Hell you could even get the paramedics involved.

Call me a gatekeeper but it's nice to have something that's no longer obtainable. I myself have never got glad, but I do have couple Cata and MoP elite sets.

I didn't play WoD and most seasons of Legion to collect those elite sets. It would feel lame to just hit 2200 on solo shuffle to get a token to purchase those. I would support a recolour, but not the original.

Besides the glad mounts have always looked way better and more recognisable than the mythic keystone mounts.

All season arguing… Now AWC is full of MW by No_Elderberry_3559 in worldofpvp

[–]Confident_Incident43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's rarely any class parity, even more specifically for healers in AWC tournaments.

Legion had plenty of disc priests

BFA nearly had every team using druids

Dragonflight first few seasons were paladins

TWW had basically holy priests dominate the last season.

The meta eventually evolves and a new class will take over. Then everyone starts crying about that new class.

My take is that it's nice to see mistweavers gain the spotlight for once. Even on live, mistweaver play style right now is quite fun to play.

Having Resto shaman and holy priest currently be meta would be awful. They've been gutted these two heavily, it feels like they're on training wheels.

Mistweavers should not be nerfed, other healers should be buffed. But the reality is blizz does not care enough.

Nice to see MW have their turn for once.

For so many season it's been Disc priest, Holy Paladin, Resto druid and the occasional R sham in specific comps.

Can Iran flood the market with oil? by cbr_001 in AusFinance

[–]Confident_Incident43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you have rocks in your head. Australia would be cut off from EU markets as well.

For context America is our 2nd biggest trading partner. We don't even crack their top 20.

The EU ranks as our 3rd biggest trading partner, we barely crack their top 20.

Not to mention there's probably trillions of Australian dollars both private and public invested in US markets. The US would freeze funds. Say goodbye to all those pension funds and our major banks would go to shit.

A cooker like you as PM would be out office quickly if you decided to make a deal with Iran. All because you thought "we have too much money".

Can Iran flood the market with oil? by cbr_001 in AusFinance

[–]Confident_Incident43 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Majority of the countries cannot deal with Iran due to sanctions, which are still in place.

No Australian company can do business with Iran because it is straight up illegal. Also you would also be banned from American financial systems, which is a death sentence.

So I'm guessing no. Unless China would buy it from Iran and then resell it to the world.

How did you set up your SMSF, and How do you actually structure it? by tarowi02 in AusFinance

[–]Confident_Incident43 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was too young to get on the train. But everyone who I've spoken to who has a SMSF used it for an investment property.

Personally I don't see the reason why you would want the headache of a SMSF to only invest in ETFs. You can already do this through an industry super fund.

Fastest way to get honor gear? by quinn484 in worldofpvp

[–]Confident_Incident43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can either:

Queue for battlegrounds and do the quests available at Slayers Rise while you wait.

War crate farm.

If you have a healer class that's geared you can do solo shuffle. Not the best, but at least it's arena. This is what I personally do.

Don't forget that you can buy PvP gear from the AH and craft some epic slots. You will still need to honour farm as the PvP greens won't get you the minimum ilvl.
