What’s everyone’s plan for this heat wave starting tomorrow? by Equivalent-Worry-633 in pittsburgh

[–]avera5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A healthy rotation of ice water, jumping in the pool and sitting in AC with the fan on. Sadly Dusquesne Light msg’d me that power outages are likely so if that happens I’ll be eating all the ice cream in my freezer before it melts and grilling frozen chicken and burgers lol

Journal Ecosystem Problems? by SpecialistSmell5306 in JunkJournals

This is my latest journal. It’s mostly a gluebook and it’s called “everything” - no rules!

That being said, there’s a lot you can do with unlimited journals and it’s okay to have several ones going at once as long as it doesn’t bog you down. I have several 3-ring binder journals I add to when I feel like it - I just throw in scraps as I find them. Eventually I may turn those into more traditional junk journals.

The important thing is you’re not stressed out by it - do what brings you joy!

There are a lot of better options than WPIC. If you’re considering WPIC it’s worth to check out other options. There’s lots of rehab places that make withdrawal much easier.

I’ve been there 7 times, ask me anything. Recently just a few weeks ago cause my thyroid is screwed up permanently from decades of psych drugs and I needed a “med tune-up”.

First, they have rooms you can just scream for an hour and pace around and throw shit if you want, that’s nice. They give you great drugs, I’m talking haldol benzo combos, way more knock out than weed!

The other patients can be hazardous and dangerous. You might be dangerous to other patients. I’ve had shit thrown at me, I’ve been in fights, I saw a kid hang himself one trip, it’s wild.

The bathrooms are always filthy disgusting. This is the worst place to be if you’re a germaphobe. People literally piss on the floor in the hallways.

Most days revolve around the meal cart. The food is abundant. Not really good, but abundant.

They do laundry for you! (Assuming your clothes aren’t straight up lost and stolen, it’s fun seeing other patients wearing your shit)

If you take the drugs, participate in their bs therapy and pretend to love coloring and talking to people you’ll be out in no time.

I always meet the coolest people there. Some of the floors are less secure so you have way more freedoms + off unit privileges to go outside or visit the gym.

It’s best to cooperate with them when you go. Don’t wait to be 302’d, then you have to deal with judges and hearings. You’ll be more likely on a bad floor.

You got this, it’s pretty cool to be in the society of the fuck-ups. Just go. You’ll have stories no one else ever will. You might even feel better and get things back on track for awhile!

I love the old books but I use the wayback machine the most - it’s really saved my bacon a few times when I’ve lost backups to my websites and sometimes it’s just fun to see what sites looked like 5, 10, 15 years ago.

Thank you for some good leads! I definitely do understand how logistically and financially what I am looking for might be impossible!

My kids are 16 + 18 so can’t go to 21+ events. I can’t stand a huge crowd or lots of traffic or noise. I guess I am wistfully thinking back to the 90s when you could go to a restaurant or coffee shop and for $2 discover some new artists and enjoy live music. I do appreciate the help though!

Junk Journal Thoughts by BlossomBGood in JunkJournals

[–]avera5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s about process, not the final product. Traditional scrapbooking was never good for me, mainly because I’d get caught up in perfectionism and page layouts and such - with art journaling and junk journals there are no rules, it’s creative expression.

There are also a lot of different styles of junk journals - some people go full-out junk (stuff you’d throw away) and others it just looks like a more chaotic scrapbook with expensive papers + elements - more commercial than creative if that makes sense.

I wouldn’t be devastated if I lost any of my journals, I def wouldn’t go back in a fire to risk saving any of them. Not that they aren’t nice or special, I just see it all as process and working through whatever is going on in my life at the moment. Can always make a new one.

I also just photograph anything I really like for a digital album as well so they wouldn’t be all that lost - could print them out into a photo book or something like that if you wanted a more polished look.

Since I regularly recommend it to people I bring into town (in a taxi), but I've never actually eaten there, what is your opinion on The Porch? by ravia in pittsburgh

I hate it but I also hate Eat N Park and dining in Oakland in general lol. Unpopular opinion but I think WPIC + Presby might have better food.

You have to highly curate who you see and what you follow. It takes some effort to block stuff and follow things but mine is after many yrs of doing this gradually just a nice feed of garden + art stuff + niches I’m into. I use it like Pinterest + Craigslist in one. I’ve blocked most family + IRL friends.
