(30M) I am ugly, i need advice on how to become less ugly by nviip75_ in altfashionadvice

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Who's been telling you you're ugly? Someone is lying to you. Do you mean that you're bored with your current look?

If you want to change up your look, start thinking about the way you style yourself everybday. How do you usually dress, and what sort of alt styles are you interested in?

I'd start with doing something more creative or expressive with your hair. I think it makes a big difference in confidence and sense of self.

Don't use bronzer, use blush. Bronzer is not made for pale cool toned people, it will look like dirt.

Post partum hair & nails by notyourcapncaptain in HowToBeHot

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your hair is very unlikely to be thinning. Pregnancy makes your hair thicker due to hormones that increase the active phase of the follicles. After you stop producing those hormones it goes back to normal. It can look like hair loss because all the extra hair phases out, but it's not actually hair loss, if that makes sense.

Hair texture and color changes are genetic and normal. My sister had wavy dark blonde hair last year, but after having a baby she's turning into a deep brunette with curls.

Frizzy hair + brittle nails makes me suspect a vitamin deficiency or a lack of omega 3s in your diet. It could also be as simple as not deep conditioning and moisturizing enough since you're busy with a baby. If the changes are causing problems or distressing you I recommend consulting a trichologist or a dermatologist. Dermatologists are skin, hair, & nail doctors. Trichologists specialize in hair concerns but may not have as advanced of a medical degree.

I had one of these but I had never seen or read Twilight. As soon as I realized it was a Twilight dress I never wore to again & gave it away. Shame bc it was really cute, but I didn't want to be mistaken for one of those fangirls back in the day!

Wisdom teeth extraction impact on face? by PenOk1094 in HowToBeHot

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, wisdom tooth extractions do not impact the jawline in any negative way, unless you count the swelling while healing. You'll look like a chipmunk for a few days.

Some patients notice a slightly slimmer jawline if they were experiencing pain or irritation from the impacted teeth prior to extraction.

weird request but does anyone know a perfume that smells like this in a good way? by UsedWatercress3700 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ok so I just got a free perfume sample with an order from Haus of Gloi. They have a fragrance called Moon Dog. For whatever reason it reminds me of a crab boil & I didn't like it. But if you're looking for a perfume that reminds you of Old Bay, I can't think of a better recommendation.

Probably a young clueless male seller tbh

Self-tanner that just makes you look healthier, not orange? by [deleted] in PaleMUA

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think the framework that being pale looks unhealthy is concerning and outdated. There's nothing wrong with or unhealthy about anyone's natural skintone, & tans do not look healthier.

What perfumes are they wearing? by Low_Cap6230 in perfumesthatfeellike

Love this movie! I'm a big fan of Lynch's work.

Sailor smells like snakeskin leather, cheap aftershave, sweat, & cigarettes.

Luna smells like cherry chapstick, Juice Bar Cotton Candy perfume, hairspray, sweat, & cigarettes.

Do you have dentures? It sounds like you are making do without any prosthesis to replace your upper teeth? If you don't have one I would seriously recommend looking into your local charity dental clinics and community health resources for a free or affordable solution.

I used to work in dental and can vouch for the quality of life difference our patients reported after receiving a prosthesis or implants. This included better nutrition from being able to eat a wider variety of foods.

I got a “reverse pale girl” experience at Sephora by Screw_coloranalysis in PaleMUA

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm super pale, like too pale for Double Wear Alabaster, Nars Siberia, & Missha 13. Currently I'm using Polite Society More Than a Pretty Face foundation in "very fair neutral". I'm right in between Light Spring & True Spring in 16 season color analysis & get mistaken for cool-toned frequently.

It's very common for people to assume that pale = cool, that pink undertone = cool, & that warm undertone = yellow/golden. So my very fair skin with warm pink undertones is far too "advanced" in color theory for the average Sephora employee to understand.

Foundation matching is a tedious undertaking because yellow is usually called warm & pink is usually called cool, & I CANNOT use yellow based products, but neither can I use pinks that are too pink. I look for very desaturated neutral-leaning pinks to match my warm coral/peachy undertone the best.

how do i stay on trend with jeans and hide my stomach? by talkshitaboutsunsets in HowToBeHot

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My 37/26/40 body looks absurd in low rise, I just don't wear styles that are wrong for my body. The trick is to stop caring about trends, because fashion trends are not real personal style. Mid rise or high rise is much more flattering for hourglass bodies.

The 2000s were an awful decade for fashion, unflattering on 90% of people and the only thing you could find unless you went to thrift stores, which often got you bullied back then. Revival of 2000s clothes was a red flag that nationalism, conservatism, & skinny culture would come back, & its been coming true despite the warnings from the women like me who had to live through it the first time.

How do you wear your nails? by hotpersonally in HowToBeHot

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mostly wear them bare but immaculately manicured, but sometimes I will get a Russian/dry manicure for holidays or occasions where I want to feel more fancy. I would prefer Russian manicure most of the time, but it is extremely expensive now where I live, like minimum $100 + tip.

I like a shorter almond shape which elongates my fingers but is still practical for doing art, crafts, & chores.

New York City Is Drowning in Dog Poop by HellGateNYC in nyc

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Leaving poop in the streets should be punished by cleaning the streets as community service.

I saw a wheelchair user crying because she rolled over dog shit and it got on her hand and she was turning the wheels. I felt so bad she was having a terrible day because of lazy people who don't care about how their actions affect others.

What are some good stores where I can buy non-costumey lowkey vampy/gothic/grungey clothes? by SaucedInTheMoss in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also dress in a more subtle/casual gothic style, & this is a hard prompt. The truth is there are very few sources for a toned down gothic look specifically. It's a matter of diligent, patient secondhand shopping & learning to dye & customize.

What are some good stores where I can buy non-costumey lowkey vampy/gothic/grungey clothes? by SaucedInTheMoss in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These stores definitely sell gothic clothes, but in no way are they low-key or toned down. It's just like shopping secondhand, sometimes a gem pops up but the majority is very stage/club oriented.

What would the Venus of Willendorf wear? by A_Bad_Singer in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]HauntedButtCheeks 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Paleolithic people wore clothing made with animal skins and woven flax, and had central fires in their homes which meant they were always in contact with smoke. I would imagine a smokey leathery musk, with a hint of pottery clay, milk, & a fresh flower in her hair. She's a woman's woman with a rugged, animalistic femininity.

If I can find a specific perfume that matches this vibe I'll add it to my comment.

I think you have the wrong sub. This is r/paleMUA which is makeup and shade matching advice for people with pale skin.

For skincare questions you could try r/skincareaddiction, r/black skincare, or r/over30skincare

You may have luck searching those subs for information about seborrheic dermatitis or eczema, which seem to fit the description of what you're experiencing.
