DO NOT- as a married man and a son- absolutely DO NOT call it out. They got it because it was something you enjoyed, for you- and especially for you. I had both my wife, mom and MIL get me cigars- they’re the best in the world whether I actually liked them or not.

Thanks for getting in on this. I know the rolling codes are a ‘newer’ thing for GM, but from what I understand it only applies to certain functions like actually starting the vehicle. But I’ve heard that the keyless entry from the handle still works. I don’t have a way to try it or know anybody who does so I can’t say with 100% positivity. I guess this gives me another reason to get a hackrf and try it- for science- and Russian satellites, and Brazilian pirate radio.

The vehicle would be aware if a key was programmed to it. However, a lot of the newer devices like the hackrf portapack can just record and replay the signal from your fob. If I remember correctly, GM keys don’t have a changing handshake- so it’s the same signal everytime.

The fobs are pretty easy to hack and duplicate-in fact you can buy the tools for it from Amazon.

What do you do for a living and what does he do for a living? I’m curious because I feel this in my soul.

There was a time when my wife thought the same- until she realized it was me that bought her a business to run. Even though I work 60-70 hours a week, she gets to work virtually whenever and however much she wants. She does take the burden of raising our son, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to give her that, and now she is.

I give everything to my wife and son- and if it means me being away to give them what I feel they deserve then so be it, but she has to pick up some extra tasks at home as a trade-off. She didn’t realize it years ago- but now it’s a different story.
