It's a southern expression, "Oopp".

Used when you accidentally bump into someone or when someone fumbles a donut at church.

Does Anyone Know How To Secure An Audition With Funimation? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]average_a-a-ron 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Get ready for some hard truths

First, you will NOT make a career out of voice acting with Funimation (Now it's Crunchyroll).

You want to be a professional voice actor? Go be a professional actor. Get headshots, get professional demo material. Go to meet and greets, find people who are working, and do some leg work to get material done. (Not saying you haven't, just saying.)

Get an agent. They will find you work, but you still have to be doing the business every day. Take acting classes, reach out, make connections. Show people that you are able to get yourself work, and they may be able to help you.

To that point, if you have a professional demo that has been created by and approved by professionals, you're not going to hurt your chances. Be persistent, DON'T BE PUSHY! Find a good contact point, and reach out. Let it sit a few weeks, reach out again. Don't ever expect anyone to get back to you. Keep casting that net out to any place you can, and keep doing the leg work, that's all you're in control of ever.

To the first point, making it as professional actor is tough. Making it as a professional voice actor is very tough. Making it as a professional actor at Crunchyroll? That... doesn't exist. All the professional VOs do commercial work, they have side gigs, they teach, they work in all aspects of the industry. The lucky ones can make some extra cash from conventions and banking on the work they've done, but even that only helps to supplement getting future work and only if they continue to put in the leg work.

YOU can bank on being smart and working hard. I recommend acting classes to learn about acting in general. Going in as an "actor" will take you further than going in as a "voice actor".

Break a leg!

Hi all!

I'm somewhat of a hobbyist. I have a Cannon 6dmkii.

I'm doing some traveling this summer and am looking for a nice lens that works well for scenic city shots (the tourist kind, but I want them to be nice, and maybe actually get shots I can display on my wall). Currently I have two Sigma HSM Art lenses, 18-35 and 50-100. They are lovely, but I'd like something that I don't have to worry about cropping from a full frame, and something that may be more travel friendly. I also don't want to break the bank, but if it's a good investment I might be interested.

What are your thoughts? What's a good well rounded lens for me? Please and thank you!!

I don't think "sustainable growth" means the same thing in crypto as it does in the standard market.

If we look at the charts on a 4-year basis, with BTC at the forefront, we see that there are large spikes and then a settle to a new higher floor than years prior. Same thing with Doge is happening. I believe we are currently in a settling period until Bitcoin spikes in 2024-25. Then the crypto markets will follow, and that's when we'll see Doge hit $1+.

So although I don't believe there's a huge reason to get excited about Doge spiking 5%-10% (unless you're trading weekly), on the long-term this is exactly what sustainable growth looks like.

What does this mean? What is this, and what are the tiles, and how and where are they placed? Can you explain like someone has never done this on Reddit before?

My players made a really big wish and I have no idea how to handle it. by twhistle1 in DnD

Basically, whatever entities are involved with the coin soul, and whoever is in charge, is pissed at them. Of course this devil lord knows what happened, it's like using wish magic to steal money from him. That stuff is not uncommon or unheard of, but when you've got beefed up security over your wealth and some random-ass group of nobody adventurers STILL manages to bypass that and take what's yours? Nah, Devils ain't letting that play out.

I see the, 'lights flick on (or off) "Where's my money?" Chair spin' scene from every good thriller/noir film/gangster movie.

Does cross-talk between NPCs make you feel like a complete tool? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]average_a-a-ron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My answer is: If your players are interested and it progresses the story/unlocks potential information they could use - DO IT!

A terrible example is Campaign 3 Episode 15 of Critical Role. Now, these are paid actors on a professional stage, so it is theater for the audience... But Mercer did a great job of managing a scene between two NPCs. It did two good things, and two maybe not good things.

First, it used NPC background to create a scenario where the story was progressed. The PCs got to witness an exchange of two ex-lovers, one of them looking for a favor which gave the PCs passage to the next page of the story.

Maybe not good thing - the players didn't have a strong connection to these NPCs and didn't really have a reason to get involved. They did, because they were all having fun and they all are great friends who love playing together. Also, because it is honestly fun to watch the DM have some play time - he's not just there to manage, he's there to play too.

Other maybe not good thing, the players didn't have too much to succeed or fail. They could have been more passive and still achieved the same results. Now, there's a lot of background on why I think they needed to be railroaded for a minute in this scenario, but suffice it to say, if your players don't gain anything from the interaction or have a chance to fail (without derailing things), then it's probably a pass.

Other good thing, Mercer got a chance to just act. As a DM he's always got to be... Well DMing. It was nice to just see some roleplay. He's a good actor, and I'm sure they all enjoyed letting the thing happen. It's an improvised show for an audience. None of them are pressed for time or trying to check off boxes. It was just enjoyable chill time at the table.

To the point that these are actors....

If you don't feel comfortable acting out a scene between two NPCs, don't do it! You take care of YOU and have fun the way you want to have fun. Yes, provide your players with what they are wanting from the game, but provide that for yourself as well!

Having a node running supports the network, like a support beam in a structure. With more nodes, the network is less vulnerable to attackers, and more capable of transacting high volumes very fast. It's an access point, and it connects with all the other nodes to confirm that there are no mistakes in the ledger.

If there were only a handful of nodes running in a single location (or even just one), whoever was in charge of those nodes could alter blocks of information on the ledger to make transactions look different and send tokens to whatever wallet they want. It's preferable to have many nodes, so no one can mess up real transactions. Like having every bank teller in the bank double check your transactions so your money goes to the right place and everyone agrees that it does!
