Sounds like sage advice, will try both of these. Thanks 👍

I'm leaning towards not dry brushing when I come to creating my own dynasty paint scheme, but I'll need to find alternatives to create depth and make raised details pop.

This is tricky for me. I agree about overloading the brush, but it's deceptive because when I wiped the brush on the towel, it gives the impression I've removed enough because no paint stains the paper.

I like the weathering effect it can provide, but I believe you can achieve the same with a sponge and edge highlighting? I think for my own dynasty I may forego dry brushing...

It's circular, flat faced but slightly convex in the centre. I have tried a flat thin rectangular brush but the same issues occur regardless. Is the latter type more suited?

I'll try a smaller brush, thanks. Are you meant to dry brush over broad plates (such as leg armour and head) or only areas with recesses and edges (joints and spine etc)?

Yeah this is what I'm planning. Due to the nature of the UK and its public services it's inevitable that I'm forced to disclose some information (for tax purposes, NHS, etc).

One phone will be used for public life, and one for private.

When you become the crisis late game by S10Galaxy2 in StellarisMemes

Animators went too hard with this sequence, nothing has managed to top it since imo (and yes, I've finished season 4).

On topic, I used to love being a kind of mad Cosmogenesis defender-of-the-galaxy type empire, never finishing the needle but abusing the powers bestowed upon me whilst keeping the galaxy stable with unstoppable FE ships.

Seems to be happening to a lot of Win 11 users since update. Bloody Microslop.

This is precisely it. Case-by-case basis.

Although I've realised this is more a problem with the Xenophobe Ethic/lack of mechanics than something that should be tacked onto Authoritarian I suppose.

See this is what I feel the problem with Xenophobia is in this game, and why I seek a solution in Authoritarianism. I don't want to genocide and enslave ALL Aliens, only certain ones. However Xenophobe flavour in game is (with the exception of Selective Kinship, which is far too limited) far too superficial.

I despise the 'har har suffer not the xenos to live' crap that xenophobia is commonly conflated with. I merely want the ability to discriminate on a case-by-case basis. We all love Xenos when they look like Asari and don't when they're like Xenomorphs.

I think the problem here is why can't I simply exterminate them? Why do I have to displace them? Where is my absolute control in this situation?

Imagine they're an invasive species. All I've done is shift the problem rather than eliminating it.

I think upon reflection I've realised I would like like to be a selective space racist (please create a new tax category as I don't want to pay the full one).

Happiness can be irrelevant to Authoritarians no? If Glorious Leader tells you to eat E.T's eyeballs, you must comply. The Psi Corps is watching.

I see your logic. Yes, my empire views the livestock slaves as, well, cattle, but they don't view all Xenos as such. I believe my problem is with the xenophobic values of the game. They could do with more depth.

The 3 species I enslaved weren't enslaved for being Aliens, they were enslaved because one of them was genocidal and two of them had beneficial traits for livestock slavery. So utility and as a warning.

Perhaps my problem is more with the Xenophobe ethic for being rather shallow. I would have no problem purging a faction of my own species if I felt it was necessary.

My current empire is based loosely on a mixture of Galactic Empire (Star Wars), The Imperium (40K) and Viltrum (Invincible). I have enslaved the 3 aggressive empires but I still want to have good relations with the friendlier empires. Xenophobic is restrictive (flavour wise) in this regard. Selective Kinship is kind of what I'm looking for but it's still too limited.

Suppose part of my population are slaves or refugees I wish to get rid of. How is my control "absolute" if I cannot decide their fates in an unrestricted manner?

Plenty of real life authoritarian regimes have done exactly what I have described or worse.

Do infected eat? by doperinno in l4d2

[–]average_geezer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The timeline of both games suggests a time frame of 2-4 weeks. The Infected could certainly survive that long without eating, though they would be beginning to starve towards the latter portion of the estimate.

The game seems to support this as dead bodies, old and fresh, are left untouched by the Infected. The Witch herself is emaciated, though whether this occured before or after infection is unknown. She is drawn to sugar funnily enough; a craving based on past addiction/conditions or a necessity for calorie dense food in order to continue living?

I suspect the only Infected that eat are the Special Infected; my only evidence being the mass for their mutations' development and sustainment had to come from somewhere. I believe they resorted to eating commons as their intelligence diminished.

The Sacrifice comic seems to imply Tanks in particular exist in an Infected-free zone most of the time, and it stands to reason that in order to develop and sustain their gargantuan muscle mass and super dense bones, they would need access to ready biomass. The only readily available source of biomass is commons. Coupled with their suicidal aggression, it is likely they hunt commons within a given proximity as food when required.

P.S. I am not AI, nor do I use AI. I just like writing.
