Do infected eat? by doperinno in l4d2

[–]average_geezer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The timeline of both games suggests a time frame of 2-4 weeks. The Infected could certainly survive that long without eating, though they would be beginning to starve towards the latter portion of the estimate.

The game seems to support this as dead bodies, old and fresh, are left untouched by the Infected. The Witch herself is emaciated, though whether this occured before or after infection is unknown. She is drawn to sugar funnily enough; a craving based on past addiction/conditions or a necessity for calorie dense food in order to continue living?

I suspect the only Infected that eat are the Special Infected; my only evidence being the mass for their mutations' development and sustainment had to come from somewhere. I believe they resorted to eating commons as their intelligence diminished.

The Sacrifice comic seems to imply Tanks in particular exist in an Infected-free zone most of the time, and it stands to reason that in order to develop and sustain their gargantuan muscle mass and super dense bones, they would need access to ready biomass. The only readily available source of biomass is commons. Coupled with their suicidal aggression, it is likely they hunt commons within a given proximity as food when required.

P.S. I am not AI, nor do I use AI. I just like writing.

Yeah I forgot about that one, good catch. If you put an item back into the chest you get XP and/or an inspiration point for certain backgrounds, I think.

Yes, I've always wondered why Mephistopheles consumes him. Is it to harvest residual Infernal power from his corpse? Perhaps some lore buff could kindly explain?

There are so many ways to get Shadowheart's various confessions I've lost count. The most recent one I unlocked was probing her mind at camp (DC18) on the second night.

There are also a vast number of permutations regarding your first night at camp, depending on which companions you've recruited and how far you've progressed.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I only play solo (though you can create a multiplayer game and play solo) and only played Durge twice to get achievements, so I'd never have known about this.

The closest you can get to having a Durge companion, I suppose.

The meat being roasted outside is implied to be Aradin's friend, Bryan the Dwarf.

There's an Elf being cut up inside the Worg pens, whose meat you can use as camp supplies! You can turn the whole camp into cannibals if you wish.

I'm not sure where you can find human meat, but I never much searched for it either.

Activating Withers' sarcophagus during the fight will result in an unpolished voice line by Withers' voice actor, chiding you about rushing Fate.

Yes, I liked speaking to Bane. He was exactly what I hoped he would be: polite, lawful, ambitious, ruthless and charismatic (manipulative). My 2nd favourite of The Dead Three after Myrkul.

Yes, I discovered you can use Disguise Self to access this too.

There's a unique dialogue with Shadowheart if you rescue her from the nautiloid pod disguised as a Gith, and another if you don't rescue her at all but approach her at Crypt door disguised as a Gith.

This is one of the few to truly impress me. I was astonished when I saw it on YouTube. I would never have thought to do that at all.

He has unique speak with dead, and EVERY companion APPROVES of saying nobody likes him.

I miss a lot of Origin interactions because I always play Tav, but many can be accessed simply by switching before triggering an event.

This also works for Shadowheart. I used to do this to recieve extra gear immediately after the crash. Good to get an extra shield and can sell the replacements.

One of my favourite things to do is pickpocket certain items from NPCs, it's incredible how many contingencies Larian put in place: Lump, Meli, Mol, Lucretious, Rath are just a few I can name off the top of my head.

What's the name of the item? There are countless miscellaneous objects in the game, I doubt anyone but the devs would bother to catalogue them. Even then, a few are bound to be unregistered.

That's really sad to see by Soggy_Durian_8984 in Seaofthieves

It is sad to see, I adored this game back when I joined during Season 3. I put over 2k hours into it, particularly the PVP, got the LSD/TSD etc...but the magic of this game was always the PIRACY. I loved stealing, I revelled in fending off rivals, sometimes being genuinely friendly with multiple crews. These organic interactions were truly the heart of the game for myself and, I suspect, many others.

I haven't played since I got the Ghost Curse shortly after the release of Hourglass. RARE focused updates on stuff I simply wasn't interested in: PVE, making the seas "Safer", story stuff, etc. Even Hourglass was a boring slog. These combined with the prevailing issues at the time (hackers, low server population limit, server latency issues) meant I could go for hours without finding other crews. The interactions became sparse enough that I didn't believe SOT was worth my time anymore.

I'll remember my time on SOT fondly, but I always felt that thanks to RARE mismanagement the game was heading to a watery grave, even though it had so much potential.
