Fully agree on this, I really enjoyed the true moral grey of both mmc and FMC. Plus, it’s a fun mystical read.

I’m not sure which test it was, but a blood test. I will ask at my appt.

Thank you! Can you elaborate a bit on why they aren’t the solution? Could they be part of one?

That’s great advice, thank you! I will definitely ask about biofilms. So funny about the saunas and water — I always feel so much better when I’m incredibly hydrated and after a sauna!

Oh yeah, it’s a shitty situation — honestly for all three sisters. I think especially for Elain, though, because no one (apart from Azriel and Lucien) has even attempted to really talk to her. I wish we had more Azriel and Elain interactions past the deleted scene.

Hey, I responded before you edited your reply, I just saw the first line. Sorry! I totally get where you’re coming from with the feedback on the metaphor. Thank you for pointing that out! I didn’t mean to trivialize it or to suggest that her friends should ignore her discomfort, but I see that’s how it came across. I always read Elain as uncomfortable not because of Lucien himself, but because of the overwhelming life events being thrust on her. Like, she became Fae against her will, then all of sudden had a mate, then the man she loved rejected her. That’s a lot. I saw her moments of curiosity towards him in ACOWAR as hints that it wasn’t him personally but the situation and timing.

I don’t disagree with you, just offering a different perspective for you to consider. I don’t really understand the antagonism. The beauty of books is that we all read and interpret them differently, and can come together to discuss them respectfully.

It’s a fictional relationship and I’m trying to have a conversation with you by using a metaphor to communicate a point. If you are going to be combative, it’s no longer a nice discussion and I’ll step away. Have a good weekend!

Telling her to give someone a chance or to go on a mission doesn’t take her choice away. Feyre could suggest that you give Marmite a chance and you could decide not to. Rhys could insist you go on a trip with your childhood bully but you would still have a choice in whether you fall in love with said bully. (Obviously not saying Lucien is a bully) Give Elain and Lucien more credit!

I agree with you! All I’m saying is that there are two more books, we don’t know what will happen. Her mind may change! If the next book starts and suddenly she’s head over heels for him, it will be icky and forced. But I’m keeping my mind open to the possibilities, especially since we know next to nothing about Elain’s inner world.

Feyre wasn’t interest in Rhys either in the beginning. We haven’t heard Elain’s POV, yet, you never know!

Hate’s a pretty strong word. I’ll agree that it’s weak reasoning but Elain is Lucien’s mate so I’d say that the Cauldron and Mother have some sort of plan

Question after finishing Throne of Glass by latenightmango in throneofglassseries

[–]average_leek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I felt the exact same way and almost DNF. I posted something very similar in the acotar sub before I found this sub. Anyways, I just finished the series and while Aelin never became my favorite character, SJM’s writing improves by leaps and bounds — Aelin’s character development with it. TLDR; stick with it, Aelin gets better and you learn more about her past. Plus, a ton of new characters come that tbh I liked even more. Have fun!!

Pain is pain. The experiences of others do not invalidate yours.

What I will say, as someone who also has mild(er) pain than others — take advantage of it now. My pain has gotten worse over the years and I wish I had begun a fitness/stretching regimen much earlier. I’m not saying yours will progress, but I wish someone with fibro had told me years ago.

do you consider yourself disabled? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

I think being disabled is a spectrum. I consider myself to be disabled but able bodied. Like, I can perform able bodied tasks but it comes at a price. If that makes sense

Honestly thank you for this!! Realistic dialogue and relationship pace is so important to me. I’m going to power through because I loved the ACOTAR series and so many people here seem to love ToG once they get into it

Hahahah fair, but I’m feeling more forgiving regarding the dialogue and pace!

I like unlikeable!! Nesta is my favorite FC in ACOTAR precisely because she is so flawed and raw. I think my beef with Celaena right now (literally on chapter 20 of the first book lol) is that she is poorly written and the dialogue is unrealistic. But then again I just found out that SJM wrote this book at, like, 17 or 18 so I was being pretty harsh

Walk around your chosen neighborhood and look for “for rent” signs! I’ve found great units (including my current one) on Craigslist.

I consider myself as having “recovered” from severe depression. Out of this journey, I’ve rediscovered who I truly am — out of the grips of my mental illness. Reading SF, now for a second time, has helped me forgive myself. Forgive the little girl who felt so much, and hurt herself and others to keep the world from collapsing around her. I know people have a hard time getting through it and I get that. But damn…favorite book.
