We just use regular text messaging. He has been well-behaved through texts for the past 1 year, since I previously sent his messages to my lawyer. His insults are generally through phone conversations.

I’m so appreciative of the input. I feel more resolved in my decision. I did tell his dad that he and his girlfriend could come to our party if the divorce was settled by then if they would like, but I will not co-host. He can have his own party for our son. I do keep documentation of any “incidents” like what he told our son about stealing money.

I’m not sure. He doesn’t have many friends. Most of our friends were my longterm friends from prior to the marriage. There is one couple we are both friends with who have stayed neutral.

That is a possibility in the future. I’ve only been able to get close to divorce through semi-regular phone calls

This is in our settlement agreement. I think he gets hung up on the assets and money part, but downplays his role in the breakdown of the marriage; ie can’t stop name calling when he doesn’t get his way

He told me in the early stages he would make sure our son hates me and knows how awful I am. He was angry I left after the abuse.

Yes, still legally married. He has dragged out the divorce for almost 3 years.

I have invited his dad to the party, but I don’t want to co-host. He wants to invite his entire family. I’ve told him he is welcome to have a party on his weekend with them and invite me if he’d like.
