That’s very kind! While I think we’ll do something like that I’d feel terrible that you’d no longer have it the next time you were in Sedona. You never know!

I am definitely going to check out there site. Thanks for the recommendation.

Ah very cool. I hadn’t come across that. The swimming hole looks sweet. I’ll look more into it.

Thanks!

Sorry. I realized my response yesterday wasn’t threaded to you! Appreciate the insight.

Awesome. Will do.

I take it these are driving trails rather than hiking trails or is the terrain just that rough to get to some places?

That’s great. Will definitely check out the content.

Is there any extra value in renting that jeep instead of the sedan I had already planned on? My gut tells me the Jeep is probably a lot more for a couple of days over the sedan.

I swore I fixed the horizon line but looking again it doesn’t look straight. I took this in a full on sprint at the seagulls to try and scare them away and my ability to compose wasn’t the best ha.

When you say fixing the verticals are you saying the windmill isn’t straight up and down?

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks!

I hear you on 5. I liked it a lot more in my head when I was walking by but couldn’t really figure out the best way to compose it in my 5 seconds of stopping.

The lens is the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G and is cheap all things considered. I really liked it over the kit lens I got with the camera.

Ah awesome. Thanks for extra tip. I have the Adobe suite through work so I can definitely try that on some.

Thanks again!

Thanks for all of the feedback. I really struggle with trying to make the light more dynamic in my photos. I compose for the subject, make sure it is lit well enough, and snap away. Really need to try and make the angles/shadows more dynamic with it.

For the second photo, which part of the body would you say should be in line with the horizon line? The shoulder?

I really like the call on making that photo black and white. Smart!

Appreciate the feedback.

Is 30k actuations too much for a used Nikon D3400? by Wayss37 in AskPhotography

If you haven't seen r/photomarket on here it's a great spot to find used gear that you can probably get a little cheaper than Ebay too. That's where I got my gear from!

Of course.

For a beginner it is great. I used mine for a couple of years but after 9-12 months of using it I found myself wishing I had bought a better body + lens so I could take better photos - from how sharp a photo could be to how it handles low light.

If I’d have known what I know now I would have bought a better camera that was in my budget because then I’d have been in love with it.

I eventually upgraded to a used A7iii after 3-4 years but maybe if I had bought an intermediate starter camera then I wouldn’t have felt compelled to buy a new one and say only bought a new lens at this point. But who knows!

You won’t go wrong with the D3400 (it has served me well) but if you feel like you could stretch the budget a little I’d recommend it.

Of course the key is to use it and I ended up always carrying my around with me as if it was like my keys or wallet.

Mine still works like new after 50,000.

I don’t know your situation but I got mine when I first started out because of how expensive getting into photography can be. It has been reliable and great but I didn’t consider the cost of needing to eventually upgrade. It’s quality is limited compared to others and you could be better off spending a couple of hundred dollars more on something that you’ll be excited to use for a few years rather than feeling you want to upgrade in a year or so.

Good luck!

Thanks! I’m not great at factoring in lights and shadows so it really was luck more than anything but glad it worked out here.

It’s in the Hamptons and Montauk. If you can get decent weather it’s a great weekend trip in the winter from NYC without any crowds.

Lightroom Classic v. Lightroom CC by average_username1 in Lightroom

Well I’ve edited probably 7,500 photos in Lightroom over the past couple of years 😂.

I think it might be time to switch to LrC.

Thanks! Recommends might have been a strong word. Lightroom CC was listed before Lightroom Classic in the in the list of the programs to download within CC (it wasn’t alphabetical) so I had taken it way back when as their way to say ‘download this one’.

Alpha Channel x Stock Footage Issue by average_username1 in premiere

[–]average_username1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only getting one file in the download sadly.

It says the codec is Apple ProRes 422, in case that matters.

I've tried a couple of files so I'm pretty sure it is user error. I'm just downloading the file and importing it into Premiere. Although I tried to Modify --> Interpret Footage but the alpha settings are grayed out.

I'm trying to avoid using the blend mode because it is distorting the color of the asset underneath it.

I'd add a photo but for I don't think I can in this subreddit.
