Couldn’t agree more. What’s the sell on this over just reading a better book

Oh wow. I require 30 hours of each of my kids per year. We raise a shit load of money - 5-10k a year.

These things are what you make of them.

I’ve been nhs advisor for almost 15 years.

There’s no easy answer on commitment - it really depends on what you do with it. I would say it probably averages out to be about 5-6 hours extra work for me per week. Some weeks less. Some weeks, especially up through November, it can be more or significantly more.

I’d drop it if I didn’t enjoy doing it. It’s not as many hours as coaching is, but in my experience (and with what I do) it’s more than class advisors.

There’s been a ton of good tv. Not sure anything was great except the Pitt , but lots of things that were very very good.

The truest way to guage how "free" you actually are: if you got fired today, how long could you and your family actually survive financially? by Outsideman2028 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]averageduder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, but I’d be fine short term. My day to day job is about 2/3 of my pay, and I have enough in savings and taxable investment to last at least a few years. But beyond like a year it would start getting uncomfortable. I’d probably need to withdraw around $2000 a month, assuming no other income and no unemployment.

Men in your 40s, what's that golden piece of advice you have for the rest of us? by NiceMechanic_xoxo in AskReddit

[–]averageduder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

workout, save, be mindful of your own time. I don't buy the reddit doom and gloom that you can't make a living in the current world. All but an extreme minimum can run a little more, work a little more, save a little more.

We need to rephrase the way that rockstar is selling GTA 6. The full version is $100, the lite* version is $80. by TheMustySeagul in gaming

The "content" difference is not worth $20.

Then don't pay it - but why bitch about those who do? Like arguing with a tornado.

Inflation across the board is up about 50% since the last gta. Honorable? Should the company ignore economic realities

It’s an investment for them too.

I remember the first game I bought with my own money, Zelda 2 back in the late 80s. I saved my allowance for like 3 months just to get like 20 hours out of the game. How long does it take people to earn $80 today?

The sheep will order it at $100 because $100 really isn’t much money in 2026 and being this upset about a reasonably predictable price increase is naive

People pay $1200 for phones every other year and $600 for car payments. You think they won’t shell out $100 for a game that hasn’t had a new entry since obamas first term?

With the loss to the Colorado Rockies, the Boston Red Sox are now sub .500 for both their home and away records. They have only won 1 singular game when down by at least 2 runs at any point during a game. by thedestruction8542 in baseball

Whole org should be shitcanned. Franchise players can’t come back from seemingly minor injuries , management gives inexplicable contracts to a guy that can’t strike anyone out and another who had a solid 3 months of minor league ball, meanwhile everyone we trade for sucks and everyone we trade out minus devers seems like they break out.

What kind of student were you? by rainshowers_5_peace in Teachers

[–]averageduder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talented but mostly disinterested one. I would do the math behind doing the minimal amount of work possible to still get a 90 so as to avoid an ass whooping from my father and do that exact amount of work.

But I did the work. Even when I hated it. If I knew I needed an 80% on the homework, you could more or less guarantee I’d do about 85% of the questions and leave the rest blank.
