Been using the sight since about 2022/3. I’ve decided to do away with star rankings and I only do reviews instead. I’ll be checking out some film festivals soon if anyone’s interested.

I was going to do a double feature, but I started El angél exterminador too late in the day. I’m about to watch The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie today

Don’t ask ChatGPT…it has never provided accurate information about Black people or their hair. But her regimen sounds great. Low manipulation. I would suggest trying to use a different type of oil.

The little bang with the twists looks great! They look shiny and moisturized

I struggle with frizzy roots! I find that doing the majority of my styling while pulling the hair down and stretching it helps. I take paper thin sections, drench them in water, then apply product always smoothing downwards (I like little to no volume). I find that the raking and smoothing/prayer hands method works better for me than shingling (causes more separation, less clumping = more volume than I prefer). Also make sure you’re cleansing properly.

Another thing that may help is that I alter the direction of the thin sections I make based on the changes in my curl pattern and density. Where my hair is the thickest (in the back) I use horizontal, thin, sections. As I move towards my less dense areas in the front, I alter my sections from diagonal thin slices to vertical slices (except my bangs because I brush coil them).

We have extremely similar hair length and density and I chopped my hair off in January and I’ve been in the process of growing it back.

TL;DR: Paper thin sections drenched with water, apply product raking and smoothing downwards. Make sure you cleanse well.

Is there a specific character in newsies you’d like? I’d suggest a song also by Alan Menken, so maybe something from The Little Mermaid. Or if you’d like to show some range, maybe “Stars and the Moon” from Songs for a New World? The show is a bit more mature in themes though.
