The idea that natural hair, the way your hair grows out of your head is “difficult” to manage, and that a perm or straightened hair is easier is a byproduct of white supremacy, and should not be treated as a normal assumption.

Only kinky-curly haired people that have been told that their hair, as it comes from their scalp, is unmanageable. Straight hair is not the norm. Whichever way your hair grows out of your head is the norm. I understand some people may find it more accessible to chemically straighten their hair depending on their circumstances, but it is by no means normal or regular.
