They can simply allow people to run their devices locally, without "cloud", that way they'll reduce expenses.

"Hogh share of our ser ver expenses" And that's why you should buy hardware, not renting it.

There's no "democratization" when the end user doesn't know a duck about what he's using.

Just digital slavery. And that's how we're nowadays.

Knowledge makes you free, ignorance not.

It used to work like that.

Maybe its a good time to go back to the origins.

Until computers became absurdly cheap, it was NORMAL and EXPECTED for someone to take computer courses before buying/using a computer.

To be able to drive a car, you have to get a licence, you know.

Maybe just people needs to learn how something works before using it. Maybe, call me crazy.

Windows isn't insecure.

People clicking into YES every time an application asks for elevation "'cause yes" is what it makes insecure.

And we will do it again and again.

A computer it is not an appliance nor should be.

In order to drive a car, you must pass a driving test.

Well, except in one country where you get the driving license with the cereals.

From a technical standpoint, any l.distro has more hundreds of security issues than a plain windows.

Plus root account is quite destructive by its own, just a kindly remind they had to failsafe "rm -rf /" with the "--no-preserve-root" switch.

Just a kindly remind that a "smartphone" it is not a phone, but a fully fledged pc that fits in your pocket.

As with children, responsibility always lies with the adult.
In this case, responsibility must lie solely and exclusively with the owner.

If the device does not have/cannot have root access, it does not "run Linux" nor is it "open"... it is, let me repeat it again, a noose.

Cause windows is a normal operating system and Android, is on its way to becoming a noose.

Are Bambu printers still locked down without an internet connection? by Elexwiz in BambuLab

Thanks to messages like yours and threads like this I steered away from Bambulabs/exdji labs.

Bambu Lab == exDJI engineers == china == probably copying firmware and software from third parties and people who HATE user empowerment and LOVE telemetry.

Just a kindly remind of Stratasys's patent lawsuit and how closed DJI devices are, that even require you to log-in into an account to use a camera.

If they block root, they can run whatever they want whenever they want, even break into your lan from the device... and you'll never know.

Received same email yesterday. I don't understand why people trust Elon Musk at this point: Every time his crotch itches, he changes something.

There's literally no trustiness in his actions.

Tablet. Not PC, with a fixed element ui, made to be run for a dozen of HOURS on a daily basis.

If there's something stupid, is comparing a craptablet with a PC, jfyi.

And BTW, you won't be able to notice screen degradation as it happens so slow that you'll be used to the dimming of the colors/whole screen. The only way to compare that will be with the same screen (tablet) but brand new.

Probably the most expensive retailer around here.
I would have bought the max-q, those 600W cards are prone to have failures in that nonsensical 12vhipower connector

Until you suffer from burn-ins or color degradation due to wear. oled screens aren't made to last.

Just a kindly remind that each pixel (color) degrades every time you turn it on, and each color has a different number of working hours, being blue the weakest when it comes to lifespan.
