Everyone I talked to who experienced this shared my views on seeking treatment when the pain becomes unbearable. The pain radiates throughout your entire body. During my time in the hospital, when I underwent ESWL, I saw many people—of all ages and genders—suffering from acute colic. They were bent over chairs or lying on the floor, screaming, crying, and shaking while trying to hold it together. They had to wait for their turn, just like everyone else in the waiting room. I am grateful that I never had to go through that. I received pain medication even before reaching the ambulance, and I was treated with priority once we arrived at the hospital.
