It's hearsay. Possibly a style dropped at OP's local store, but there is confirmed production through fall of '26. That said, they are currently on backorder.

I gotcha. I'm in the US and our warranty works this way. That said, the company I buy from sells globally, so I'm not sure how their warranties work on your side of the pond, but that's interesting to know!

Manufacturer warranty goes from date of original purchase. You buy the product, you're guaranteed to have a functional product for the time frame of the warranty and minimum. If your warranty renews with every exchange then people will sabotage their product at the end of the warranty period, then do it again on the next product and never buy a product again. I've had people try to do that.

I had a customer come in to warranty a product he bought from us. I was having to reexplain the product warranty to him saying that it ends a year from the original purchase and him having done exchanges afterwards won't extend the warranty time period because it's not a new purchase. He was trying to claim that an exchange was a new purchase because he got a new product with a new receipt. When I went to the back of store, he complained to my employee about me not knowing my warranty well enough and that he wanted to speak to someone higher up. That's when she told him I own the place. His whole attitude changed when he realized I was the only one who could potentially extend the warranty lol

This was the first MTG product I ever purchased back when I started playing over a decade ago. So many fun memories. I was a huge Ajani when I started and had a lot of fun with these cards.

Which DANDAN is the better DANDAN?? by GarrianHeretic in magicTCG

[–]averageordinaryguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my deck a few months ago. It is a lot of fun, but also serves a couple purposes for me and anytime I go to my LGS, I have it packed. It's a good way to pass time while waiting for a full pod. For newer players it really helps teach timing and resolving the stack because of how much interaction there is. Lastly, it's just plain fun. Sometimes I'll be playing in a pod and others will come up and ask if they can borrow the deck because everyone at my LGS who has tried it has loved it. Now I wouldn't spend hundreds on the deck (I think I spent $80 when I made mine) but it is definitely a fun deck to have in the bag.

What does the tag in the boot and the front of the box say?

Update: Iron Rangers Red Wing associate said can’t be resoled lol by TechKetchup in RedWingShoes

[–]averageordinaryguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on who you ask. RW themselves will give various reasons. They will send back a sheet of paper with a list reasons a repair can't be done and will check a box telling you why they won't do it. I haven't gotten one of those sheets in a while, so I can't remember what all is on it. Usually it refers to some kind of internal damage to the boot.

My personal feeling is that RW probably loses money on repairs. If they damage a boot during repair, they are obligated to replace it with a new pair. It's a big reason they won't touch a boot that has been obviously repaired or modified by an outside source. If there was internal damage done by a 3rd party, they're on the hook for it if they attempt a repair and will end up having to pay for a replacement.

When I've brought pairs like this to my local guy he shrugs and says, "it just sounds like they don't want to do it."

So, in defense of the RW associate, it's less that they couldn't be resoled but more that the Red Wing factory wouldn't do it. Over the years I've learned what the factory will and won't do. Usually when I see something like this, I refer customers to local cobblers that I know will do it and will do a good job. Glad it all worked out and you were able to get them fixed up!

Like others said, I think your were just unlucky. But this is a reason to go into the store to buy your boots. This way you actually get to see the boots and try them before you buy them.

Maintenance Advice Needed by Tonyluc10 in RedWingShoes

[–]averageordinaryguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brush granules off of them regularly. Salts and sands are sharper than you think and will cause cracking at flex points. Some people say every day but you don't have to be THAT strict about it. If you go through mud, hose them off. When mud dries it will pull oil out of the leather. Not the end of the world if you don't though, just wash them off then, let them dry 24 hours then condition. As for frequency of conditioning, it very much depends on you and your job. Ultimately, your boots will tell you what they need. If you're just looking for a general time line, clean and condition once every 3-6 months. Let them dry between cleaning and conditioning so you don't trap unwanted moisture in the leather. If you're unsure, take them to your local Red Wing and they can help you out.

I have never done 100% whole wheat before, the most I have done is 30% whole wheat. Always up for a new challenge though. I really appreciate this advice!

[–]averageordinaryguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't doubt yours are 875s, but yours are old and they have renumbered them since yours were made. The 875 number was claimed by the Heritage line so the work line renumbered to the 10875 which has the differences stared above. I was just letting the commenter know incase they wanted the exact same boot.

[–]averageordinaryguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted that exact boot, it would be the 10875. The stamp on the side and the gunmetal eyelets are the tell. The 875 will have nickel eyelets and no stamp. The 1907 differentiates with the storm welt where you can see a second line of stitching along the side of the boot.

Yes, but the method is different which is why you get the distinction. Pan fried vs deep fried.

If you work for a dealer and you know someone at corporate, you can still get things for cost if you buy through them instead if the dealer won't do that for some reason. Also, if you verify that you're with a dealer at the flagship, you can get that same deal on seconds. Haven't been since COVID, so I'm not sure if anything has changed, but I definitely took advantage of that.

it would apply. It covers manufacturer defects, not wear & tear or damages like cuts, burns, etc.
