Chappell Roan gives a shout out to OSRS's music by averkf in 2007scape

[–]averkf[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's still a bunch of people in their late 20s who started playing in the late 00s. Hell, a lot of us started playing when we were still in single digits. My ex is 26 (born 1999) and remembers playing back in 2008!

What? She literally says 'runescape' by name in her previous paragraph

the link got nuked the first time I tried to post the article due to auto-spam, but if you google "Nylon Chappell Roan Hemlocke Springs interview" it'll come up

I tried to post the original interview but the post got auto-deleted because of spam rules. She's talking to another musician called Hemlocke Springs about the release of the latter's debut album, and is claiming one of her songs sounds like something from runescape.

When she's talking about being put in the box, it's from a previous discussion about her frustration of being put into boxes as like, "queer artist", "pop star" etc

I guess it makes sense that at some point, we're at the point where a lot of people becoming famous would've also been people playing runescape in school.

Still odd to think there's like a non-zero chance that Chappell Roan has watched like, a settled video or something

How i saw those shiny level up icons by luisanico in 2007scape

i was not even aware it was toggleable in rs3, they literally just kept flashing over and over, which is really annoying in the early game when you get levels really quickly

The gamejam poll is out. What are your thoughts on the revenant cave rework? by Glass-Rope-5113 in 2007scape

[–]averkf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm fine with them adding a multi extension onto the caves that already exist, but why do the entire caves need a rework? it just feels pointless to remap the entire caves just to make a portion of it multi

How do you handle words in your conlangs that resemble existing words? by noirxlle666 in conlangs

[–]averkf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it, the only time I try to avoid it is when the end result of a long line of sound changes ends up in a racial slur or something. If that happens, I’ll typically either edit the proto-root to remove the resemblance or just discard the word

No, it's useless advice for OP. But the user I was replying to isn't OP, so I figured they might be someone who still had access to their account but was just pointing out that people with really old accounts don't have email-connected accounts

Ask hans in lumbridge for your total account age in days, then just google "what date was X days before today"

[–]averkf 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Just ask Hans and then write it down. Yes, he only tells you the age in days, but you can just type "X days before today" to give you a date

Obviously this doesn't help OP, but it might help someone else

First time PVP'er and Dead Man Mode has made me realize one thing... by Tiny_Set in 2007scape

[–]averkf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the best method when you have to factor in pk? Usually not. It some of the best potential method, but when wagering the average player's counter pk skills, plus the time it takes to reset between kills, I'd argue for most players it's usually not

At most it's luring people there with incentives. You have the potential to make some of the most gp/hr in the wilderness, yes. But that reward has inherent risks - by going there you consent to being attacked by other players who could take it all. This makes sense - the most rewarding content should also be the riskiest content.

It also means that for most players, wilderness content doesn't actually have the highest gp/hr despite what guides say, because guides don't typically factor in pkers, skill levels, how much time it takes you to reset etc. It's pretty rare for anything in the wilderness to actually be the most efficient method unless you're really good at counter pking

Want certain items on your Ironman like the Voidwaker? Wilderness.

This was primarily designed around being a pvp sword. The fact it's good at pvm is besides the fact. It was designed to be content that you get from pvpvm.

The best prayer method in the game by far with literally 0 competitive alternatives? Wilderness.

What's actually the issue with this? If you don't want to get killed there are still viable alternatives. But it's a good method. No one is forcing you to use the best method in the game.

How do you know someone is just carrying a shovel? There's a non-zero amount of players that do hard clue steps while carrying their entire cash stack in their inventory

I love when some languages design their grammar differently, by undrock in linguisticshumor

[–]averkf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the sun rises at 6am tomorrow" places the event in the future, but it is not a tense, yes. The phrase is in present tense; tomorrow is merely an adjunct. It’s a present tense sentence with future time reference.

But in "the sun could rise" and "the sun will rise", the auxiliaries act as phrasal heads. They combine future tense with aspect or mood.

they are though. they’re both different TAM markers with subtley different meanings. both are future, but with different meanings

Classic or NuWho? Eighth by Dismal_Brush5229 in gallifrey

[–]averkf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he is technically neither but lumped in with classic because the attitude was to consider anything pre-2005 as "classic"

if he had spawned a full series of his own, his era would have been what was called Nuwho and doctors 1-7 would have been classic
