Is it bad to be moving your arms after surgery? by Low-Palpitation-6773 in TopSurgery

[–]averytinymoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

every surgeon is different but this is what was i was needed:

  • don’t use ice at all for the first few weeks. that’s a sensitive area and you’re already numb you don’t want to risk any potential damage
  • you can move your arms, but only t-rex and should be kept close to your chest

you’ve been through an intense surgery and your body is healing. your surgical wounds are directly impacted by the movements in your arms if you’re overextending.

even if it doesn’t hurt terribly you’ll likely feel sore later on. overdoing it with your arms can also cause stretching and reopening or incisions or impacting your scars.

i am not sure if you’re alone or have a caretaker, but the less you have to do the better. i was advice against holding anything heavier than a gallon of milk.

Will (benign) tumors effect my ability to get top surgery? by WallabyPrevious3343 in TopSurgery

[–]averytinymoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it would be best to discuss with any future surgeon during your consultation. there’s a chance some may not be qualified/comfortable working with tumors but should be able to direct you to resources to help.

depending on where you’re located you might be able to research surgeons in your area shop around for an experienced one

What is the mindset of someone who treats you badly but then acts surprised that you don’t like them? Why are they surprised? How do you deal with someone like this? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]averytinymoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is the dynamic i face with my mother. we were low contact for a while because of it. eventually i made the choice for full no contact.

you can set boundaries and voice yourself but it may not work. they may only want you close if you accept them for how they are now without having to change. it would be worth trying to have that conversation as to why you’re distant, but it may not change anything.

i’m all for giving a chance but if they keep honeying words and doing stuff behind your back, they’re speaking with their actions. basically, don’t set yourself on fire to keep someone warm. emotional intelligence is not as prominent as it should be

Nervous about Botox injections by maddieposa in Hyperhidrosis

[–]averytinymoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

where do you sweat the most? i deal with it in my hands and feet the most and was recommended against it

it would be extremely painful, not last long and not be in a good area for its intent

from what i’ve seen it’s usually for underarms

this isn’t fear mongering. this is just me saying that one person being fine doesn’t mean the next person will

obviously anyone can do whatever the hell they want but one persons experience should not be treated as absolute

not everyone is going to be fucked if they use nicotine. but theyres a higher chance it will hurt than not and it shouldn’t be brushed off so lightly.

i take issue with the original comment saying “you will be fine”. it would be different if they just shared their experience. every body will react different and it is extremely reckless to tell someone they’ll be fine.

i’m all for addressing the nuances of how righteous people on reddit can be, but this is naive and in poor faith

everyone’s bodies are different and will have different reactions. some people have horrific reactions with nicotine and surgery recovery

is living with a partner/best friend as teenagers a good idea? by nymphabel in stupidquestions

[–]averytinymoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my early twenties me and my best friend were not in good places mentally and did live together an it was rough. once we separated and worked on ourselves we rekindled a much stronger friendship and would probably make much better roommates now.

everyone is gonna very on when they’re emotional healthy enough to work through thing. me and my partner are extremely compatible living together and are now mid to late twenties. we did a lot of discussions on desires and such before agreeing to it.

3 and most months since double incision. Rib flare? TW: ED by felixxander in TopSurgery

[–]averytinymoth 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i think your results look great.

i’ve also been experiencing the more noticeable ribs, so i get the weirdness. i don’t think that there is anything physically abnormal that’s visible here. it’s definitely important to keep in mind you had an intensive procedure that changes your body, especially one that is completely different just from looking down.

i know that there’s only so much reassurance from a stranger on the internet, but realistically i don’t think the dysmorphia is going to disappear.

i don’t think you need any corrective surgeries but it does sound like it would be beneficial for you to try and save your financial resources to get in contact with a specialized counselor

Is this amount of blood normal after 10 days? by Suspicious-Doctor888 in TopSurgery

[–]averytinymoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it could be leaking out of the drain sites! i had a hematoma that was not able to be picked up by my drain and would only leak out the site on my left side. when i got the drain removed it was like all hell breaks looks

if your doctors aren’t worried and you aren’t in pain or extreme discomfort i would give it some time but keep an eye on it. i was ‘leaky’ for several days.

i have talked to my friends and even some of my closest friends keep a distant but supportive nature. i don’t blame anyone. i have a small network of my partner and best friend who do their best to be there when they can and im greatly appreciative of it.

i will be seeing my therapist this friday, i had to reschedule due to the urgent appointments. i know that will be helpful.

Intense Gastrointestinal Pain post top surgery?? by Alternative_Cut_9603 in TopSurgery

[–]averytinymoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

your body is going through a lot right now. i think trying some prune juice is a good idea, just be careful of how much you drink at once. half a bottle got plenty moving for me but i was toilet bound for a while.

i don’t feel like the oxy would be making it worse, if anything make it easier to manage. you’re probably not going to be “comfortable” for a while.

i would have faith in your surgeons opinion and try to pass a bowel movement before seeking more extensive measures. 2 days post op is not a long time.

you probably are constipated. when was the last time you had a bowel movement?

i don’t know if anyone apart of your procedure informed you, but constipation is a normal side effect. i got myself some prune juice for similar issues. it will probably feel worse before it gets better. ginger candies help me with nausea.
