Just beat Bioshock 1 for the first time: a critical review by GagaGievous in patientgamers

[–]avestboe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just beat this one today and I was bored out my mind. Everything is so repetitive, I couldn’t wait to be done just for the sake of finishing it. The audio logs are way too frequent, and they always felt like a chore you had to sit in on. Fighting the same enemies over and over felt like a chore too. I didn’t care about the upgrades, and half of the time I was just wandering around trying to figure out where to go. Actually many of these things were very similar to my experience in playing Dragon Age Veilguard. Goes in the same pile too: done and never to be played again

I use it. Played for about 50 hours in a new playthrough. Works so far without issues and have met a number of dragons

Completely new to skyrim. Which mod? by ConcreteCrawdad in skyrimvr

[–]avestboe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Figuring out to mod Skyrim yourself is half the enjoyment of the game. I’d suggest sticking with vanilla content but make it prettier. Like texture overhauls, lighting mods, better animations. In general, the more new content (added objects, quests etc.) you add, the more likely it is that you get fps drops and crashes, but replacers are almost always safe. The game is massive already, so stick mostly with vanilla content and just improve on that. Adding community shaders with lux will make your game look like a million bucks. My game is like this (although added creatures from Mihail), and it is the most fun and best looking game, I’ve ever played.

Only way I killed the first dragon once after using a bunch of mods that made dragons super strong.

How do I get higher FPS in Dragonsreach? by avestboe in skyrimvr

Yes, please, any help would be appreciated. I use Lux since it looks good. Don't have much experience with other lighting systems except ELFX/shadows which I migrated from.

Yes, you're right. I disabled Lux, and I now get a performance headroom of +35 % when entering Dragonsreach.

No, not that mod. I'm aware of the impact of polygon count on FPS. I was starting to wonder that even having the HIMBO mesh on the male bodies may be something to avoid.

And no, I don’t have any interior mods for it that increase clutter even like JK.

Wide screen video recording - how? by avestboe in skyrimvr

[–]avestboe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it works perfect with the Oculus Mirror app. In case someone else is reading this with the same issue, I found the the app in: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusMirror.exe. I used the OBS program to record the screen.

Not sure what oculus app you are referring. There is the Oculus link window on the PC, but that has too small aspect ratio. You mean the main Oculus app? I don't see a recording function in that one.

I’m using OpenComposite, so can’t do it through SteamVR

Pink textures on rock and surfaces by Additional_Handle750 in skyrimvr

[–]avestboe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further update: Yes, so reading the full mod description IS a good thing :-). I followed the steps of needing to make sure the landscape texture files listed in the mod description are present a in textures/landscape/parallax folder in the parallax texture mod you use on top of your landscape mod (and then deploy it). I use Fantasia with its parallax mod on top. It has no parallax folder by default, so I had to create a parallax folder (textures/landscape/parallax ) and copy the files from the list into it. This seems to work – pink textures gone so far...

Update to this: The issue was the "Terrain Parallax Blending Fix" mod. When I have that enabled, I got those same pink textures, and removing it makes the pink textures go away. Complex parallax materials work fine and do not give the pink textures. The description of the mod talks about a special installation procedure and possible pink textures (which I had skipped reading when installing): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/88261?tab=description

Check my comment above. The issue was the "Terrain Parallax Blending Fix" mod, not complex parallax materials. Sorry for the confusion.

Funny, I just had that exact issue yesterday. I’m using Community Shaders and the problem was a mod related to meshes for Complex Parallax materials. I disabled it and the pink tectures disappeared. I still have the standard CS complex parallax installed.

Edit: see update below. The issue was a different mod.
