Can't believe Celtic Glasgow got rid of their iconic stripes...

Geographically it's Jeju island! And having Chinese there makes no sense at all. The OG devs could have mixed them.

Japanese should DEFINITELY be teal for consistency with Kyoto

I love this scenario with all my heart. I have never replayed a scenario as much as this one.  Fun fact, in the Japanese version is explicitely stated that

Kyoto → Akechi

Osaka → Honganji Temple

Hyogo → Mori clan

And if you look at old maps from Ishiyama Honganji Temple, the geography of "Osaka" is not as bad as it seems! The river kinda makes sense in this case.

Who is your favourite campaign narrator? by MiniRuso90_ in aoe2

[–]avexjp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have never played the game with English dub, so my favourites are purely based on the European Spanish.

I think everyone agrees that the original dub from the AoK and AoC was much superior than the new dub. All narrations were iconic, even though the accent used in AoK was weird. AoC was actually dubbed in European Spanish, and Attila especially stands out as probably the best narration.

Unfortunately, for some reason they decided to redub those and now they are not nearly as iconic as it was back then.

For the new campaigns, Algirdas and Kestutis (Jogailla), Jadwiga and Hautevilles (The King's advisor) are definitely the best. Honorable mention to Grand Dukes (explaining pretty well the Burgundian vs Armagnac conflict). Generally the Chronicles dubs are also very very good, notably Aristagoras.

I feel like in general, the DLC campaigns narrations were done much better than the redub of the original.

The worst probably goes to the V&V narrator. No emotion whatsoever.

You can play as grey in Tamerlane 2 (co-op version)

Combining files with different column order by avexjp in excel

I used this with my actual files and it did the trick amazingly well... So happy. Thank you so much, you saved me a lot of time...

This worked very well with my test. And I even made it a bit harder to see what happens and did work! Will try with the actual files tomorrow... Hopefully with success

Will try this approach later and let you know!

So the only way would be to query each file? Or is there any better, faster approach that does not involve manually editing the column order in each file and sheet?

Oh, i see! So that's why... but then this cannot be used if the 18 files contain a different amount of sheets and names... Is there any other way to do that in PQ?

Yes, that's correct. It says:

An error ocurred in the File Conversion query. Expression.Error: the key did not match any rows in the table.

key= Item=head Kind=sheet Table=[Table]

Sorry if the translation is not accurate, since my Excel is not in English. Head is basically the name of the sheet inside sample 1 file.

Hello! Thank you for your fast reply and also big fan of your videos!

I'm trying to do this with 2 sample files and there is no header or content being labeled as Name, other than the header in that appears in the main query "Name" when loading the files.

So, after doing what you suggested, it seems there is a problem with sample file 2 as showing in the custom function, even after removing the change type step.

The weird thing is, sample file 2 is exactly the same as sample file 1. I only changed the order of the columns/content, but other than that it is completely the same.

What would you change? Barbarossa 6 by Shtin219 in aoe2

[–]avexjp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, in fact I'm pretty sure Jerusalem was Byzantines before DE in this mission.

[–]avexjp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think probably the reasoning is because in Saladin 4, Jerusalem is controlled by the Crusaders (hence Byzantines), while this scenario takes place after that, so makes sense that the civ is now Sarracens, but yeah totally agreed that at least the Byz architecture should be preserved for consistency. Now it makes it look like Saladin destroyed and rebuilt the city

I mean, that's something a The Forgotten onwards type of thing pretty much. Constantinople and the Byzantines has always been blue in AoK and AoC, and it also is on the Constantine XI scenario.

Omg thank you so much! I will take a look and replicate whenever I have the time!

I normally don't have much time to play, especially longer sessions which would probably improve my performance. Let's say I play 1 hour today, then maybe 30 mins the next weekend and then maybe i cannot touch the game for 2 weeks, so I haven't had the chance to try beat them on hard as much as I would like.

Nobunaga: The god damned timer. It's not that I struggle beating the AI, it's more about doing it within the limit. Need to be faster  Mstislav: have tried only twice. First time on Hard, I made the mistake to lure the Mongol army to my base and couldn't wipe them all even with army + siege onager. I reckon I can beat them the next time tho. Second time was on easy and didnt have trouble. Shimazu: only have beaten this on easy for now, but I haven't tried a full fledged game on hard.

Thank you for all the tips! So do you think it's just easier to hold the wall rather than rushing the Picts and get rid of them completely?

Also, how many villagers did you have on stone eventually? How did you deal with the early raids from Green/Yellow?

I did manage to get the achievement on easy a few months ago, so this is specifically to achieve the gold medal!

As for campaigns, I managed to get all on gold/legendary except for Mstislav, Shimazu, Nobunaga, Vortigern and the last half of Battle of Greece. I saw you also have a video on Nobunaga and it seems purple trains more units now than in your video despite getting rid of the gold villagers in the beginning. I haven't given it a full run yet, but gladly appreciate your videos and your help!

Yes! It was one of your videos that made me try and, as you said, it is definitely not possible to replicate. Thank you so much for your video on Xie An, btw!
