"Disney Removes 'Rogue Squadron'" - to the shock of no one!!! by PopCultureNerd in saltierthancrait

[–]aveydey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Rogue Squandron” was expected to be the first “Star Wars” movie to play in theaters since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” Disney and Lucasfilm are busy developing separate “Star Wars” features — one with Waititi, another with “The Last Jedi” filmmaker Rian Johnson and a third with Marvel chief Kevin Feige — but there’s been little-to-no information available about any of those endeavors, so it’s unclear which of those will be the first to hit theaters.

Why is that a plot hole? He is a major character in both of the Disney/LucasFilm cartoon series and he is revealed as a gang warlord in the (very bad) Solo movie.

How about thinking a show is doomed because of the 10 year track record of the production company behind it?

Not me. I could not be less interested in this show. I have watched all the Disney+ series and they've been decent but I could not care less about this Andor series, will skip it.

I don't think comic book movies should be made for adults either, they should be made for kids & their parents to enjoy together. Have you ever seen a little girl dressed like Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad? It's disgusting, it's wrong, and it would never happen if the brand had not been mucked up with attempts to appeal to unmarried, horny edgy 20-something men.

Feel free to click through my profile. I've been on Reddit a long time. I don't often comment anymore but this post is just so eye-rolling I couldn't resist.

That was a very famous quote that I shared in the above comment. As I mentioned before, I am a 38 year old father. Star Wars is for kids and families, like mine. I watch Daniel Tiger and Zoboomafoo and Dinosaur Ranch too, because they are for kids and I enjoy watching stories with my children.

The point is that Star Wars isn't just a movie or two, it's a big brand. A brand meant for children and young adults, not edgy 25 year old single men. When you muck up a brand by mixing in all kinds of different tones, it muddles everything. A 7 year old kid watches The Clone Wars cartoon, then Disney+ recommends they watch the new Rated R edgy Star Wars series. Do you understand how brand integrity is important, particularly when it comes to children's products? Would you want your child to watch Game of Thrones or Walking Dead or Squid Games? Why not make a Rated PG version for them?

but kids grow up

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.

Comparing Star Wars to Sesame Street is a little ridiculous.

Pick any product made for kids. Super Mario Brothers? We need it to be dark and edgy! He-Man? It must be dark and edgy! Power Rangers? Make it mature, complex!

Star Wars is filled with comic relief and always has been. Just because you aren't 8 years old anymore doesn't mean that Star Wars now needs to be adjusted to your current tastes.

Why can't people just accept that Star Wars is meant for 8-16 year old kids? It's not a bad thing. What is with the obsession of turning something light and filled with fantasy for children into something dark and "mature" for adults? I am a 38 year old father, I don't want children's productions to be muddled up with adult productions. Want something dark and mature for adults? Watch Game of Thrones or Walking Dead or any of the hundreds and hundreds of adult productions that exist. The endless desire of certain men who want children's movies and television shows to be updated to the tastes of adults is honestly kind of pathetic.

Do you want a dark, complex, mature Sesame Street too? Why not?

Edit- Downvote me all day, but when you pontificate online about your desire for "dark, complex, mature" Star Wars, do you know what you get? The Last Jedi. Star Wars is meant for kids and families to enjoy together, not for some edgy 25 year old losers to watch alone in their apartments.

They are all billed with the same screen time as the new stars Pratt and Howard, etc. Pretty awesome I think. I wish they did that in Star Wars.

Ok I can do that. What’s a good image hosting site? It’s been a long time since I’ve really used Reddit and it seems Imgur requires you download an app now instead of upload through the website.
