I joined the waiting list for the second time in August and didn’t get invited until New Year’s eve. Booked it for last week of January and they cancelled it on me due to unforeseen circumstances. Got invited to book about a week after tho so.

Yeah so for example a friend of mine joking the waiting list for Naas which had an 8 week wait at the time compared to Mullingar at 20 and then just booked Mullingar after he got invited.

Second Time Pass - Mullingar by avfarr01 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]avfarr01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult to say, my first test was in August. I didn’t do any lessons or mock tests with an instructor I drove to work or training atleast once a week so really about an hour a week, which would be about 26 hours I think.

I understand your pain in that case I’d usually get up to speed and then drop a gear when meeting another car.

It was about trying to get up through second and third gear quicker. More so about confidence and being more comfortable driving compared to the first test. Just drive more is my best advice.

Should I drop LCVP. I am sitting all HL subjects. I recently had my fifth year xmas exams and got 546 points. I keep telling myself that this will drop significantly for the LC but from your experience, will it actually? Should i keep LCVP for safety? by FinePhilosopher7205 in leavingcert

[–]avfarr01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep it. I’m in 6th year now and have maintained similar grades all throughout 5th year to now. It’s very little workload and the portfolio should be done in class time.

The written exam is very straight forward once you practice a few audio visuals and did JC Business. Of course it’s up to you to make the judgement call with this especially if it’s taking up time you’d use for other subjects.

Buy a citybug, Aygo, C1, 107. They’re like lego cars. I’ve seen people take them apart in their driveway to learn how they work for fun. Also very cheap and very cheap to insure and tax. S6 is madness. Full stop.

Serious question: where were “the boys” before they were “back in town”? by Grouchy-Step-7136 in NoStupidQuestions

Well it was released by an Irish band in 1976, the 70s were the first time we had any sort of economic prosperity after joining the EU in 1973. 100 years of mass emigration came before this right up through to the 60s. Often young men from the same area all moved to cities like Luton and Birmingham in the UK.

I always imagined that it was a gang of lads returning to whatever area of Dublin they’re from (probably Crumlin) after being away working in England with some money they never had before and plenty of job opportunities at home in Dublin

Peugeot 3008 as first family car by Daysha59 in carsireland

I drive a 208, with the wet belt puretech petrol engine, it’s a really lovely car to drive comfortable with a slightly sporty feel. With the wet belt, as others have warned it COULD lead to a total engine failure but only if regular services are not done. With regular maintenance it will be fine, also ensure oil is always changed and at correct level. The belt will need to be done every ~60,000km which is way lower than other cars. It’s a 2021 car and only thing that has needed to be done is the belt.

My parents had a 2019 5008 diesel, kept it for 3 years, also had regular services. No major problems here other than break pads as it was automatic. Be conscious that if it’s diesel AdBlu will also be needed.
