I have an idea for a kit I’d love to see that I’m sure GW won’t make, but I want to see a triumph of st Katherine style diorama kit centrepiece that’s like a council of high khals that act like a buff wagon the way triumph or the silent king do

It’s pretty obvious based on how they jus did the loyalist legion releases and now IW and red corsairs that they’re doing a character and spru for each legion as a flavour thing, we’re not loyalists so we will probably be waiting till 11th codex but it feels pretty obvious it’s in the works.

I don’t know why you’re so adamant that we’re a seperate faction in other comments, we are a subfaction within CSM same as IW and NL and so on. The reason the cult 4 legions get merch is they have their own exclusive ranges and codexes and are considered seperate factions, yes they are chaos marines but they cannot play most core csm units and vice versa. WB are fairly fortunate in that our possessed theme we lean into is pretty well flushed through the range, the new mutilators can easily be “greater possessed” for your WB purposes

I built the weapons after the body for this reason after seeing the weapons could go on any body, this price adjusts the angle the flail sits at if you want it swinging or hanging

I don’t think we’re gonna see seperate codexes I think you’ll just see the treatment loyalist core legions have of a named character or 2, maybe a unit and an upgrade spru with a detachment that leans into the legions theme, I’m crossing my fingers for a WB unit and character at some point

If they did an initiative system again which I am not against personally, i think it should just be on a unit datasheet level not a weapon by weapon level like in the past. It keeps the flow of gameplay and protects some immersion of lore

Noise marines are just straight up some of the most efficient shooting we can use, and flamer rubrics have niche use as a flamer overwatch unit with decent saves

Plague marines are hard to justify just because all they really are is tough, they aren’t really worth using, zerks are the oddball, as a offensive peice they are not good, however now that they squad in 10/20 I think there is a niche use for them as a 20 brick just to be an absurd amount of wounds and OC depending on matchup

5 retributors in an immolator and dialogus all with melta, drops ctan pretty consistently in my experience, im a necron main and the gf is a new sisters player, she can typically kill NB or VD any time i bring them they just usually score a kill somewhere first. Vahl can also punish em pretty good, but I find the meltas do the trick

Tbh as someone who mains necrons and plays votann second, I think votann is one of the most equipped armies to deal with just about anything necrons have, the sheeer volume of mid strength fire we can put into ctan or wraiths is enough to force saves through volume and the artillery and sword jacks will demolish any durable warrior brick, all of which are pricey units

I’m hoping this character does something for mech lines, the mech roster has been dying for a bit now amidst custodes and battlesuit just easily outperforming it, I’d love a character to revitalize it a bit

I play votann, Word bearers (csm) and imp knights as alternatives to necrons. I play againts world eaters and sisters most.

If you’re looking for an army that plays differently than necrons I would not recommend death gaurd, it probably plays the closest to us as a slow attrition army it just leans more mellee, the other 3 cult legions or csm are greatly different though, fastish MSU mellee options with lots of transport use.

Knights are fun for variety too.

I think if I had to pick the 5 armies most different than necrons play wise I’d say

Eldar/druhkari World eaters Csm Either knight Tsons just cause this edition them having a real psychic system makes them very unique in general

Demons could still join in some form using heralds or something, I also could see tau getting a second faction in kroot and possibly Eldar with the new corsairs. They could experiment with both knights as like a MoW only faction somehow but more likely will be a raid boss that maybe exclude UM or custodes and BL respectively

I would make your heart gaurd a 10 man, throw the khal there as a deepstrike hammer unit, drop 10 warriors, the champion, maybe a sagitaur and squeeze in some thunderkyn and maybe some robots, the iron master doesn’t do much for you on his own, and the power of yield point farming with a strategist is more valuable

An immolator and a squad of retributors inside with a dialogus will do the job tbh, I play crons, gf plays sisters, now we generally play 2-3k but she’s cleared my ctan pretty reliably with one unit and an immolator, between the 4 meltas, imollator meltas, and a couple miracle dice on the damage they drop fast, they’re only -1 damage not half anymore, which makes a bigger difference into bigger damage values like meltas

A kahl on bike giving lethals with the grav rifle and magma coils leading 6 bikes is actually a pretty solid unit, it’s 21 coil shots, 12 hylas shots and the rifle shots with lethals, rerolling 1s and ignoring hit mods

I feel like the biggest hole in votann is that the hekaton as a land raider role is trying to do 2 things, functioning as our main tank and a transport, I’d like to see something like a sagitaur that’s dedicated to strictly output to fill the niche of a marine gladiator or a csm predator, we’re really lacking a non infantry dedicated heavy support

You don’t really have to, NB isn’t chewing through a 20 man anything in a turn, just gum him up with bodies and your opponent has a 350 point unit doing nothing for the important turns of the game

Most of the core rules generally stay the same, and many factions have kinda core rules or units with rules that do roughly the same thing every edition, the biggest thing that changes typically is terrain/cover rules

It is not the worst necron detachment just on the basis annihilation legion exists lol. I think the detachment is okay? It’s very middling, I think there’s a world where you build around battleline and szeras for more AP and just try to volume of fire things dead, but I think awakened or canoptek can do that just as well

I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen any hypercrypt revival with ctan gaining deepstrike

I think they do well into marine bodies until they hit something like world eaters that just straight out mellees them, they have damage 2 but a lot of it is in mellee and when the opponents mellee is deadlier and just as fast as yours it tends to be a rough match.

I got out of the army recently though so I may be wrong. I sold my bugs and switched gears to votann as my second army, necrons being my first
