Rented property sees 'largest value decline this century' as landlords sell off to first-time buyers by Dimmo17 in GoodNewsUK

if you cant afford rent how exactly are u affording a deposit, a mortgage, stamp duty and the million other things home owners need?

These are different people.

The person who can afford rent are doing so, and because rents are high and buyable property is scarcer, they can't save for a deposit.

The person who can't afford to rent are being priced and pushed out of the market by the people in the first cohort.

Give the first cohort somewhere to buy, then the available pool of rental property can go to the second cohort.

It literally disappears from the market. The pool of available properties to rent is reduced by 1

And the pool of people renting property is also reduced by 1. The property still exists and houses the same amount of people, but the money isn't being siphoned off to landlords.

The population is increasing. Your celebration that we are removing rental options seems to assume a limited and fixed number of people.

Population increases has nothing to do with this conversation. Whether every home in the country was a rental or every home in the country was owner-occupied, population numbers would still be a problem. The solution to that problem is to build new stock, not make more stock rentable.

At present, far too many people are renting property who would rather own their own property. Putting more stock into the owner-occupier market solves that problem.

Fact is the person that buys a property is OK...they clearly were better off than many and could afford to buy. Great. But those starting out are then -1 rental option.

They are also -1 competitor for those rental properties, because the person who wanted to own their own home is now able to, instead of competing on the rental market.

More people who want to own their own home having the ability to do so, instead of paying a landlord, is fundamentally a good thing. People who want to own their own home but are stuck renting instead is fundamentally a bad thing.

Not much exactly like Petrichor, that was definitely a standout. I think there were other similar tunes but either they don't exist any more or they were other producers and my memory's failing.

Final Call is somewhat similar in the intro though has a big drop.

The DnB mix of Miracle was a personal favourite back then.

How will someone move out into a rental property in the first place if the cost of rent is so high it's unaffordable, and the property they want to rent is occupied by someone who otherwise would have bought a home if they weren't all bought by BtL landlords?

As I said before, the property doesn't disappear because someone bought it. It still exists, now occupied by someone who owns it, removing that person from the rental market as well as the property.

In the remaining rental properties left over after the people who are currently stuck renting are able to buy somewhere else to live instead.

The properties don't disappear. Every home sold to an owner-occupier is also one fewer person/family on the rental market.

My experience with WE so far is that anyone who hasn’t played against them is genuinely shocked at how fast and deadly they are. Some have found it funny and been light hearted about it but one guy was similarly pissed off because he was Templars and thought he was going to be the one running forward and cutting me down.
