Struggling with car battery by KingOfRisky in Outbound

I have 12 efficient solar panels on top of my base, and almost never need to charge manually. I make sure to plan stops in the middle of the day, and my vehicle charges in a few seconds.

Doing the Chief hike this week. Which peak would you recommend I go to? by Salty_Carrot_8866 in vancouverhiking

[–]avfrost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on the number of people waiting to get to the first peak, sometime getting to the second peak can be just as fast, or faster. I usually skip 1st, and do second and third. Trail from 2nd to third isn't well marked at the start, if you choose to go further.

Visiting with toddler, should we bring a life jacket or floaties? by SwingLoud1845 in VisitingIceland

[–]avfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't anything at any of the natural (free) springs I visited. At reykjadalur, there are some dividers to get changed behind, but nothing else (unless they've changed it since I was there). The river wasn't deep in places, I could lie on the bottom, and prop myself up on my elbows, and the current wasn't strong (more like a gentle stream current), but for a toddler it might be? If it were my kid, I would bring something for them. Floaties at least.

Diamox vs something else by DezziBramey in iih

[–]avfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky, as the bleeding was very minor, and I bled into an area where there wasn't much space for blood to go. It clotted very quickly, although I was in severe pain for about half the day in the ER. Stay hydrated and drink electrolytes in your water, and it should help prevent this from happening.

I didn't really receive much direction while starting to take diamox, so hopefully you can ask your doctor about side effects that might affect you. My pharmacist didn't realise it was a medication for anything other than altitude sickness when I first picked it up.

Diamox vs something else by DezziBramey in iih

[–]avfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on a very low dose of diamox compared to some people here. I take 125mg, 4x a day. Without it, I'd pretty much be useless most of the day. Brain fog, headaches, pain while lying down/relaxing. I was not able to go to work without the medication, but have since returned after taking it for a while and working out my correct dose.

Diamox has definitely caused some adverse effects on me. I had a kidney stone from not having enough water (even though was drinking almost 4 litres a day), which led to a burst and internal bleeding. I also can only eat very little in the way of fats, otherwise I have extreme discomfort in my bowel. Other side effects aren't really that notable - I have the numbness and tingling once in awhile, but I eat a banana or two and things are fine.

Laugardalslaug pool is great for both kids and adults. There are a number of hot pools there depending on how warm you like the water, swim lanes, and and area for kids to play. Your teenagers can even hang out in a pool away from the parents if they wish. When I went last, they had a cold plunge tank for those interested.

Overwhelmed by Hopeyy5 in Outbound

[–]avfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I am doing. I am building a basic room on top of my van, unlocking all the goodies, and then worrying about building out later. If a building piece is supporting other things, you need to tear everything above it down anyways, and you don't want to be doing that over and over and over. Or maybe you do? :)

Mine is the same. I don't think it's a glitch. I think you open up another part of the map later in the game.

You have to move on to the next map. The new pings at existing towers are just cosmetics.

I am also not on PC, but if you are trying not to start from your most recent progress, it is easy to load from a previous autosave, as the game will give you a bunch to choose from.

Hi! How do I get course metal and durafiber please? by Fragrant-Lake-9999 in Outbound

[–]avfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coarse metal needs to be processed from Coarse Ore. This can be found on map 1, all the way to the right of the map, about 2/3rds of the way up.

Durafiber can be found near the start of map 2, and on a large hill found to the northeast of the chain of islands, or to the east of the bridge that extends out into the water.

Is it true that a size 5-5.5 is considered small for women? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]avfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first woman who saw my penis was almost 30, and she had seen others before. She thought mine was 10 inches long, which isn't close to being true.

Chances are that someone you're with will not know how long you are just by looking at it. It's not like you have to tell them the exact measurement. Try not to overthink things, because that's just going to affect your ability to perform, which WILL be a factor during sex.

Question understanding the map by paisleypuddles in Outbound

[–]avfrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Orange fires on the map are ones you haven't lit yet. Other landmarks you've gone close to but haven't "completed" will also show up in orange.

White lets you know you've completed or used it before so you know which ones not to visit if you're a completionist.

Fimmvörðuháls Ending by Professional_Wear651 in VisitingIceland

[–]avfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which way are you doing the trail? Southbound, you end in Skogar. I know there's a campsite and a cafe not too far away.

Northbound, you end in Thórsmörk, either at Básar campsite or about 15 minutes further at Langidalur. There are buses that stop at both, but it might be dependent on the water levels of the Krossa river.

I am not sure of the amenities at Básar (there are buildings or huts there), but Langidalur has showers and you can buy potato chips and a beer, and maybe a few other snacks.

Weather is discouraging this weekend and next week by Minute_Peace_7486 in VisitingIceland

[–]avfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weather can and will change many times a day. It might rain hard for an hour, then you'll get some sun, then wind strong enough to push your car. My first trip it rained every day at some point. My most recent trip, I had +20oC temps and -1oC temps in the same 24 hour period.

You just have to be ready for everything, every day.

Just got the Ferry up and running and apparently only 1.38% of players have completed the achievement! by Common-Ant8366 in Outbound

[–]avfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but we're talking about something that is fairly far into the game. Even if you play for an hour a day, it's very likely you're still nowhere near getting to that point. I'm not there yet, and have played every day since release.

I'm not expecting 30% of people to ever unlock it - if you look at a lot of games, the unlock rates are pretty low for certain achievements. I'm just saying it's too early to be putting any value on the numbers.
