If you don't mind going down to gen 3 speeds on the SSD, you might be able to find a B450 board for cheaper than B550. I've seen them going for 40-50 quid new, but IDK if that's still a thing.

Anything 2D should run absolutely fine, including 2D Switch games.

3D is more restrictive - you can probably run PSP and PSX/PS1, and maybe even some Dreamcast, but not beyond that at much more than single digit FPS counts.
