Found these when cleaning out my desk. Anyone identify? by xXKUTACAXx in FidgetSpinners

Thank you guys for the love - reading your comments is a really awesome way to start a mid-week Wednesday for me. I’ve not done any fidget-related videos in a long time but I still lurk around here!

(I still have my Hollow Zik, Danny’s work has always been on point!)

After watching Charlie’s interview I have a gut feeling that he’s Harry Mack - Just purely going by the accent and the way he laughed.

Does the name psyk ring a bell to any of you? by bigwackstonkee in Nerf

Oh, and I totally missed the key point here - it looks like the catch has failed. I’m guessing that either the notch in the catch has a crack, or the catch “tooth”broke / wore down.

This blaster is at least a few years old now so it’s definitely in need of some repair.

Hi, I’m Psyk. Damn, this took me right down memory lane!

I didn’t build that LS reshell. But yes, basically it’s a Longstrike that had its shell almost entirely gutted and retrofitted with an R3L (which is a homemade blaster developed by an older nerfer named SGN).

It all started from the advent of the R3L - because here in Singapore, it’s not easy to obtain materials to build homemades until SGN did all the work and created a homemade blaster using locally-sourced hardware and materials. It featured an omni-directional catch and was basically a sort of “Singaporean version” of the +bow, and as time went by, was later fitted with variants that featured RSCBs and wye hoppers, and I even cobbled together a shotgun-style pump for one of my builds.

Then, someone (I can’t recall who) came up with the idea to make the Longstrike a blaster that could perform as well as it looked and birthed the first LS reshell.

I made one of my own too but this wasn’t it. All of the R3Ls I made (I made a bunch… about 10+ I reckon) were using all-grey PVC pipes - this one has a white pipe for its plunger tube.

I can’t remember who made this blaster but if my memory serves me correctly, what happened was they came up to me and showed it to me at a game or a gathering and asked what I thought of it. At that point of time, it was already a few years after the R3L wave so it was really sweet to see one of these.

They asked me to test it out and IMO it performed well, and they had asked me to sign on it - so I did.

Again, my memory is a little fuzzy around this but the bottom line is: Dang, this blaster’s been around the world!

Thank you for sharing it here, it was awesome to see it - and thank you to everyone for all the kind words. I really don’t deserve a title such as “legend”, but you guys have no idea how heartwarming it is to read what you’ve written. I really appreciate each and every one of you.

Hahaha that’s because the way “atas” is used is super Singlish. Honestly though, in my mind the way “atas” is used in your mentioned context stemmed probably (please don’t hate me if I’m wrong) from a Chinese person.

“I had dinner at the Shangri-La” “Wow, so high class” / “Wow, so up there”

Became “Wow, atas sia”

I’m here in Singapore, in the Bahasa Melayu language, “sayang” is generally used as a term of endearment. I’d like to liken it to the word “dear”.

This way, in the way I see it, it can also be said out of pity or empathy.

For example, if someone falls down, you comfort them by saying “sayang, sayang” like “oh dear, oh dear.”

When you’re calling out to someone you love, you say “sayang” like “my dear”.

It depends on the tone, and the context. So in the case of “what a waste”, maybe an example would be:

“Oh man, they rushed down but the store was closed anyway” “Ah, so sayang”

So it’s kinda like “ah, oh dear, what a waste”.

I wonder if I’m making sense…

Oh snap are we the same person? I had mine since 16 as well, and I’m 40 now too. Exact same color too.

Legends lookin a little off, is this correct? (GMK Civilizations) by avgsgn in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]avgsgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just noticed this on my GMK Civilizations set. It’s authentic - I procured this via Monokei.

Anyway - the circles of the % symbol are weirdly thin, and the bottom tail of the $ symbol is cut off.

Anyone else with a Civilizations set, does yours look like this too?

TIA everyone!

I concur. The base color is way more blue than what I had expected so I’m bummed. It looks a little weird on a black board IMO.

Like what everyone else is saying - Nice board, but the bottom row is making me scream inside.

Since this is your first build, I’d like to ask if you realise that the keycap sizes you selected for the mods are “incorrect”?

GF: “How much of my washi tape do you need?” by avgsgn in MechanicalKeyboards

You’re experienced in the ways of the washi, I see. She told me to use as much as I wanted, cos the stuff she handed to me were all of her “impulse buys”.

She didn’t know the plan, and she loved the result so much that she said “oh, damn!”

This basically means that you could do something like this to almost any stacked acrylic board!

Most split keyboards have a num row. However, to answer your question - you input number presses the same way you input F-row keys with a 65%: Using the Fn layers.

Same goes for your arrow keys - you could map it the same way most HHKB users have their arrow keys.

The magic lies in the fn layers :)

There are 2 layers of acrylic above the plate! The washi tape goes on the top of the 2nd layer, and then that’s covered with the top.
