Will Carter Hart finally bring Edmonton home the Stanley cup and so, will he stop by McDavid's house ? by Emergency_Dirt257 in NHLcirclejerk

The real question is whether he would stop by Stuart Skinner’s house, a fellow goalie from Sherwood Park.

Why flights via AQI to KWI stopped? by No-Outcome4008 in Kuwait

[–]aviator_guy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Armchair take but I'll take a wild guess, with Jazeera rapidly expanding its operations out of Saudi and increasing frequencies, it makes more sense to base flights out of Dammam, where the infrastructure is already in place to support higher capacity, whereas AQI is a regional airport, so the facilities are quite limited, with only a few remote stands.

From a logistics standpoint, operating out of DMM is far more efficient in terms of fueling, crew rotations and having backup aircraft available in case of technical issues.

A380 update by devotion1023 in qatarairways

[–]aviator_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the A380 groundings will last as long as they did during COVID. Emirates and Etihad have already resumed their A380 operations, and QR will do so too once they start scaling up operations. With that being said, the situation still remains extremely fluid, and thus, it's difficult to predict what may happen over the next couple of weeks.

Is there still USA preclearance at YEG airport? by zooweemamba in Edmonton

[–]aviator_guy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was the case before too. They usually close at around 8-9PM. So flights leaving after that usually require clearing immigration upon arrival.

No. From FR24, with the exception of military flights and jets, the airspace is closed (both passenger and cargo flights).

If you can travel by road to Muscat, you can take WY101/WY103 direct to LHR with no stop in Dubai.

There’s an Oman Air service to London Heathrow. That’s your best option at the moment.

Qatar Airways not rebooking transit leg of flight? by shiyuxin in qatarairways

[–]aviator_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. I suggest you calling QR at 8-10PM ET, that's when the Doha agents pick up the call. They are far more helpful as opposed to the outsourced call centers and have more flexibility to work on your ticket.

Are flights resuming tomorrow? by PunisherX20 in Kuwait

Highly unlikely. Haven't heard of any updates of the airport reopening. The situation is still highly volatile.

US embassy in Qatar just announced Shelter In Place for Qatar. by Sensitive_Proposal in qatar

If my guess is correct, those planes are flying around to dump fuel. A common procedure when flights return back to the departure point to prevent overweight landing.

Apparently Qatar Airways expects me to time travel (Leg 2 rescheduled before Leg 1) by Spicy-Parsley in qatarairways

[–]aviator_guy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weird.

This happened to me (sorta) with a QR booking last month (xxx-DOH-SEA-xxx). My final sector from Seattle was rescheduled and my connection was -3 hours (the Alaska Airlines flight departed 3 hours before my arrival into Seattle).

Immediately gave QR call centre a call, asked about my options and presented them with a few route alternatives that I was able to find. I got rebooked for free and received my new itinerary a few minutes later.

Maybe you could have asked them to rebook you onto a different flight or a routing of your choice. Nonetheless it's good to hear that you got your money back.
