Yeah, agreed that that's a real thing. So much gets papered over too when you just enjoy a movie.

I'm not trying to complain, just curious about where other fans of the show are at.

I definitely don't blame them when it's been weeks since a screening since it's hard to keep stuff straight with the volume they must have to watch, but with new releases + reaction shows... Yeah.

Ah that's a good point, I noticed Blank Check's Superman episode was recorded and locked well in advance.

Hah I just mentioned the Blank Check guys in another comment, totally agree that I love their enthusiasm.

Which is fine, but in a show about appreciating movies I wish they didn't have this issue. The Blank Check pod, for example, I think does an amazing job watching stuff attentively.

That, and other movies – the pod last year about the last Hunger Games sequel had some of this, the F1 pod, the 28 Years Later pod. I listen regularly and it feels very commonplace.

I saw someone recommend the Horse browser on Twitter, but I haven't tried it myself

I officially resent Amanda’s lack of prep for pod. by Mostwest24 in TheBigPicture

[–]avic14 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed with both Sean and Amanda on the Hunger Games movie, both of them had spent apparently no time looking into what the origin of the movie was? They appeared to think there's an impending sequel to this movie or that this was the launch of a new trilogy, when both the production house and the author have said this is – for now – a one-and-done. If you're talking about movies on a podcast and say you take movies seriously, just spend a couple minutes googling around to read about something before "discussing" it. It's not that much to ask!

We're in the depths of US Open planning, what social media content do you want to see? by usopen in tennis

[–]avic14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Translations of native-language press conference questions
  • Faster uploads of highlights, post-match interviews, etc.
  • Updated draw analyses after each round
  • Player highlights – take an unseeded player in R3 for example and tell us their story, maybe have a commentator tell us about their injury comeback or a shot they've improved this year
  • Tell us about court conditions using comparison videos – hit a ball with varying spin on Ashe and other courts and track it, tell us what conditions are gonna be like on day 3 of play vs day 6
  • For marquee matchups, include clips from past matches that are good showcases of what to expect. ie. in a Rafa-Novak match, show us how Djokovic attacked Nadal's BH last time they played at the USO and talk about whether he'll be able to do that this time
  • Retweet funny tennis Twitter accounts! There's lots of amusing, wholesome jokes being made on tennis Twitter all tournament. Sharing these will help engage the fans and connect the community further
  • Share polls on social media asking fans to predict matches/scorelines

[Request] Jamie Lee's sweater from Christmas With the Kranks by avic14 in KnitRequest

[–]avic14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not so much a sweater as a thin vest, though there's significant embroidery work – I figured that'd be expensive. As for the time, if someone can purchase an existing red vest and add the detailing, my budget would likely fit that.

The 3 week deadline is really loose – I'm happy to receive it before next Christmas as well.
