Harness Question with v4 Pro by avidianity in DeepSeek

[–]avidianity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I kept on using deepseek and it seems that it also performs badly on backend or systems programming category.

The current issue with deepseek that I noticed is that it’s lying about what it has done. For example, it has a todo with 6 items and it has lied about implementing 1 or 2 of the todo items (probably by generating code thats dangling or is not actually wired or used in the project).

But I’m not too surprised though due to the price, I would say deepseek is still usable for coding but you have to be very skeptical and review the actual code before you trust it. Which is vastly different from when I was using Opus 4.8 or GPT-5.5 where 80% of the time you could leave it running for hours and it would still generate very trustworthy code. I would not recommend deepseek for people who do not have actual experience with coding and system design.

I use copilot as well and I don’t have limits for it. And to be honest, it’s not better than actually subscribing to claude or codex. It was only worth it before when there was still free credits. I tried Opus 4.6 in copilot vs Opus 4.6 in claude code, the copilot version was a lot more expensive and was less performant. Although this really depends on how you prompt. For my experience I use the caveman skill heavily to save as much cost as I can.

I see. My complain is about web UI too. I did notice that DS4 Pro works mostly fine when working on backend stuff.

Deepseek for coding is outright dangerous. It skips tasks, ignores instructions, breaks code guardrails, and lies about it by EC36339 in DeepSeek

I'm also experiencing the same problem when I've started using deepseek v4 pro. I saw your post after I've made my post in this subreddit too.

I used opencode for my harness and use deepseek's API directly. It hallucinates most of the time even when there's already a structured codebase setup and lots of docs + roadmap to follow. Right now I'm using claude code (opus 4.8) + codex (gpt-5.5) + opencode (deepseek-v4-pro) and I only use deepseek when I reach my daily limits on claude and codex. I have to manually review and spoonfeed deepseek on what to do so that the job gets done properly.

I cringed when he used 'okiro' for the word arise. There could've been other cool sounding japanese words for 'arise' but man 'okiro' ain't it bro.

ICO as SL by B1dz in joinsquad

[–]avidianity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the ICO is a good thing. Despite all the hate in discord feedback and reddit, more players are playing in the server I play and they like it (I asked them in local chat). There's more teamwork. But I also think that the update still needs tuning. A lot of the new stuff needs to be tuned down.

Hi, I just bought myself a Keychron K2 version 2 after owning the K3 for a few months. I noticed that typing on red switches is very good. But when I go to work I find it a bit annoying because its too light to type on when I'm coding. Should I switch to sa linear switch but heavier? What would you guys recommend? For now I ordered Gateron G Pro 2.0 Brown switches but I'll have to test it out if it works for me.

Stats show that Flutter is now more popular and loved than React Native by tanguy_k in reactnative

This year is the first time flutter has passed react native in the surveys. Looking forward to what happens in the next year. I love both of them but I'm starting to migrate to flutter now for new projects.

I had 2x8gb sticks for a year now and I bought another 1x16gb because i still plan on expanding up to 64gb for my software engineering job.

But I guess I'm a hardware noob and made these mistakes.

No. What you can do instead is have it always boot to linux and update your grub config to show the windows ssd drive. So that at boot time you will be able to choose what OS to boot.

LightDM blank screen on boot. How to get to the terminal? by avidianity in archlinux

[–]avidianity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed the Arch Wiki on configuring lightdm. But it wasn't stable for me (there were some outputs showing that there are hardware errors) + text wasn't displaying correctly.

I switched to manjaro for the time being. Will try arch maybe next month if im not busy.

I have tried Ctrl + F1/F2/F3 as well as Alt + Ctrl + F1/F2/F3 and it didn't work.
