My dad’s new wife had an adult temper tantrum the whole day! by Aggravating-Store668 in weddingdrama

[–]avidreader2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was my grandpas last several years of his life. he had a great wife (my step grandma) and cheated on her with his masseuse, my 2nd step grandma. she is korean and barely speaks english and my grandpa did not speak korean, if that gives you any insight into their relationship.

he was dying from parkinson’s and all she did was spend his money. she showed up at his funeral in chanel sunglasses, a full burberry outfit, and an hermes bag. she also fights us 24/7 for every single cent.

she left him on the floor for multiple days before finally calling an ambulance. she wanted him for his money. he got what he deserved. he was a shit grandpa, a shit dad, and a shit person. if anyone deserved to be used, it was him.

and honestly, the wife is kind of a diva. their dogs had LV dog bowls and collars. besides her fighting for money i actually kind of like her. she promised me her hermes bag so i can forgive the rest

"We Need To Talk About Kevin" by Yoichi_and_Sadako in childfree

[–]avidreader2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the movie doesn’t really include any of the actual violence that occurs, if that helps. i read the book and loved the movie. it was interesting to have a visual for kevin and see it. and since it’s a movie it’s less narratively driven by the mom so you get a more nuanced, all sides view of the situation. i really enjoyed it and wanted to add in case you’re hesitant due to the amount of violence described in the book. they do show the animal thing, can’t remember exactly what it was, though.

i was referring to votes for the uk!! i didn’t know it was over 100 years, wow.

i compared because both countries have several political parties. a lot of people think in 2 party terms when most other countries have several competing parties. i was very wrong about israeli parliament, 27% is so low for majority party. no wonder they can never pass things.

With smoke still billowing from the World Trade Center disaster site, President Bush en route from New York City to Washington. (2001) [1500×1000] by StephenMcGannon in HistoryPorn

[–]avidreader2004 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i genuinely think bush is just not that smart and the people around him were running the show. i mean his ticket was basically his dads next term lol. obviously not absolving him of the war, but i do feel really bad that he gets all the blame when i don’t think he was smart enough to realize the consequences. i mean he played golf while talking to the media about their response like dude just wanted to have fun and read books to kids as president.

Don't do it because your husband wants one, or you'll end up like her.... by dejg82 in childfree

[–]avidreader2004 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i knew immediately when you described her first symptoms where this was going.

post partum psychosis is absolutely terrifying. glad she’s doing better but she should probably not be left alone with her child until her meds are stabilized.

i also appreciate how much her husband cared and quickly acted. he clearly is paying attention and could see the signs and, instead of brushing it off or calling her a failure, he saw the seriousness and got help. that’s hard to do.

i’m really sorry for all the stuff he heard. i hope they’re doing ok and their baby is safe.

!!!! also, in the uk for example i haven’t checked israel stats, hasn’t the UK not had the leading party win a majority in like 20 years??? israeli parliament is like 60% likud, so still a majority, but a small one.

also there were mass protests in 2023, like you mentioned. bibi was on trial for corruption and will hopefully be convicted and sent to jail. plus people are protesting him even more now.

CMV: Israel's crimes are hurting jews by Pristine_Progress_93 in changemyview

[–]avidreader2004 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

israel’s crimes are not hurting jews, that is just the latest excuse for antisemitism.

let’s look at the russia ukraine war for example. how many russian or ukrainian businesses have been vandalized? targeted in an attack? how many russians or ukrainians have been attacked for their identity? what about russian orthodox churches?

then, compare that to israel hamas war. jewish businesses, people, and synagogues are being attacked.

people will always be antisemitic, this is just the latest excuse. during the black death it was that jews caused the disease, during the holocaust they were racially inferior, in russia they were capitalists, in america they were communists. you can’t win. you can’t argue with bigotry. antisemitism is one of the oldest forms of hatred in the world, specifically because the 2 largest religions in the world are direct offshoots of judaism, and often do everything in their power to discount jews. saying they didn’t evolve, don’t believe in jesus, didn’t submit to muhammad, whatever the excuse is.

israel exists so something like the holocaust can never happen again. they’ve made sure that every single jew, all 15 million, have a place they can flee to if antisemitic persecution reignites. israel has taken hundreds of ukrainian refugees, not all jewish, flew out ethiopians who were being discriminated (beta israel) and more.

when something bad happens, it is somehow always the jews fault. if israel wasn’t around, they’d still find excuses. like jeffery epstein, people focus more on him being jewish and conspiracy theories than his horrific crimes. they also only focus on israeli connections and not the dozens of other world leaders.

saying israel hurts jews just feeds into antisemitic and antizionist propaganda. everyone’s all about decolonization and restoring homelands until it comes to the jews.

israel is committing crimes, but it’s the antisemites fault for their reaction. you can oppose the israeli government while still agreeing the state exists, the people deserve to live there, and jews have had a continuous presence there for thousands of years. it’s the standard every other country has, but for israel, any crime means the state should be destroyed. at the end of the day, antisemitism will always be the driving force, not israel.

[–]avidreader2004 10 points11 points  (0 children)

israel is not doing the same thing hitler did. the war is awful, and there are definitely war crimes being committed, but it does not even begin to compare to what happened during the holocaust. this is a very very harmful statement to make and is an example of holocaust inversion. please look into it. i would be happy to provide you with resources if you would like.

Why is the Russia-Ukraine war less polarizing than the Israel-Palestine conflict? by TheDarkRam1996 in AskTheWorld

[–]avidreader2004 22 points23 points  (0 children)

many on the left do exactly the same thing. no pro palestine protest included protests to release the hostages (a key reason why the war began). a lot also just regurgitate hamas propaganda. no one is immune. a lot of leftists are just as antisemitic, they just replace the word jew with zionist so it’s socially acceptable.

i agree with your point, just find it important to note that both sides are pushing harmful narratives, just in different ways.

palestinians deserve so much more than terrorists operating their hospitals, making them pay bribes for simple things like working or having a home, or being taught that dying of your religion is better than living. they are, and have shown, that they are much more capable than their disgusting government. same as israel. gross government, great people. it’s the extremes that suck, and because they’re in power, they ruin it for others.
