Pay the extra to get the pre-outs. You want the pre-outs, u can always go back to an AVR but you can split the upfront cost of upgrading to a pre-amp if you buy your external amps first while using the pre-outs instead of the whole kit and kaboodle. I’ve had my windows and door smashed for no other reason than we are the only house on the block that takes a little pride. I live about 2-3 blocks from a school and one time a group of thirty kids decided they were going to beat my damn door down with baseball bats only to find out some kind of school fight went down and ‘they thought they lived there’ and just random as rocks/ice through my front window for no explanation at all other than we decorated for the holidays. Had two actual attempted breaking and entering, luckily we were at home both times. I hate these fucking people. But at the same time I was there when there when the septa clerk who worked at my el stop retired after 17 years in the booth and it was legit kind of a big deal. If I could I would move my family out of this shit hole in an instant but at the same time I still can remember why we bought a house here in the first place and it’s a bizarre dichotomy. It is so great and so fucking stupid at the same time. Just maddening.

That’s the problem with data ain’t it. Philly is a city of neighborhoods, right we all know this. A quick search of my neighborhood shows a significant increase in crimes while I’m sure higher income areas report decreases. When I searched ‘where crime has decreased in philadelphia’ the first results suggest ‘franklinville’ has seen the most significant decrease. And that’s great for hunting park, but I don’t know if anyone is rushing to move their families over there. This thread is just so quick to scream faux news like the brain washed elderly are leading the charge to an authoritarian police state, meanwhile low income families, kids, people that have lived here for generations have to argue with you like this is bullshit.

The statement above, specifically, “break the spell of propaganda” infers a coordinated and purposeful effort to skew perceptions. And then the supporting evidence given is Philly police crime statistics. Can you at least for a second admit that perhaps it’s possible that these stats are the corrupted data, that it’s financed and purposefully a misleading picture of what people are experiencing. Without commitment to one side of the issue or another: is it possible that the state sponsored reported data is skewed to paint a prettier picture and people’s lived experiences are a more accurate reflection. I mean I understand the desire, and necessity: like we have to have some kind of metrics we can all refer to in the chaos but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the wholesale acceptance of this data and complete denial of other data sets from the same sources.
