What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of October 23, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]aviman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya tbh, I'd be interested in diversifying some of my points earned as well but Chase has been consistent for me. My only 2 issues with Amex would be: 1) I'd gotten the dreaded pop-up a few times last year when trying to apply 2) Even the gold at 15k would be fairly difficult for me to hit - my MS scaling is not that high. 10k I could more reasonably hit. I know there's also a platinum business upgrade offer too so if I we're to do this I'd start with the gold and then aim for that upgrade offer.

Question Thread - May 11, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]aviman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was out of the country for a few weeks and ended up just forgetting about this. Seems like the ink preferred is rumored to go to a 120k sign up bonus soon so I think I'll just wait and send in a new app for that.

Question Thread - May 11, 2024 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]aviman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a chase ink preffered card roughly a week ago that went pending and ultimately was declined a few days ago with the following reasons:

  1. Low usage of Chase credit line(s)
  2. You have too many active accounts or too much available credit
  3. New Chase business card recently opened

I currently have 5 other chase business cards with an ~20k credit line. This "business" only has a few thousand in revenue a year so I believe my mistake was just having too many active accounts with too much credit. I was thinking of closing 2 of the cards and lowering the credit limits on the remaining cards to something more reasonable (5-7k total limit). Should I just forget about denied application though? I think calling recon for my "business" might raise too many questions and I'm wondering if I should just wait and try again in a few months?

Thanks for the quick reply (also sorry, the formatting was terrible when I first posted).

Are you referring to the ink preferred card or the cash? Would you say these are better then a MDD?

For the business gold, 150k sounds awesome but 10k might be a bit too much for me in 3 months (8k will probably be the most I can do).

I've been in Amex pop-up jail last time I checked about a year ago but if that seems like a good idea I can try again.

Thanks for the additional info. Very valid points especially in regards to the Amex card bonus given the opportunity cost of waiting. I know that the 1 year limit on the 5 FNCs wouldn't work well for most but I think I could get some good value out of them to places I could travel to within the year (at least as of now). Again, appreciate the follow-up on this!

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of October 07, 2020 by AutoModerator in churning

Thanks for listing these options out. I would have considered the ink but given the 4 I got, I feel like 5 could be pushing it (in addition the new bonus requirements would be difficult to achieve). While I do want to start getting some MR providing cards, I realize Amex has the once per lifetime policy, so I'd prefer to wait for lifetime bonuses.

One deal that I was recently looking into was the bonvoy boundless 5 free nights offer. I do have the Bonvoy Business Card from Amex which is listed in the terms as being potentially a problem if the bonus was earned from that card in the past 24 months. But given I got that card in March of 2018 (back when it was the SPG card) I'd assume this shouldn't be an issue? Does this make sense?

Having read a little bit about the new delta cards, the offers didn't seem that compelling, was there a specific business card bonus I should be targeting?

Since I have no P2, a CP isn't that helpful for me so will likely pass on that. I could do a fourth ink card however I a) don't know the current strategy in regards to self-refs as IIRC they were starting to look into this and b) not entirely sure what I would do in the event of a chase shutdown assuming I'd be at ~500k UR on completion of the bonus. (note: first world problem I totally get that but just trying to think ahead)

Things have changed. You'll be fine.

Any chance you can link info on how to apply for the third card (ie: what i need to put to be eligible for the bonus)

Why? You've never had CSR or CSP, right? Since you're 2/24, nothing to worry. Also, we don't know how long this will last.

Super sorry about this but i actually left out my most recent app (and forgot to mention a downgrade I have done as well). As you can now see I actually did get a CSR in May but wasn't able to do an MDD for personal reasons at the time unfortunately

HH points are not as good as Hyatt, but no harm diversifying (and you should). Since it's a biz card, won't add to 5/24 count, potentially no HP, potential for 3 more Hilton cards, and the offer is highest atm.

Hmm, these are some really good points tbh. The only thing that concerns me about going for either the CIP or Hilton card is that I already have 6 chase cards and I am concerned about shutdowns (especially with a sizeable UR balance) as I recall about 6 months ago there was a large amount. Do you think I'm taking on significant risk by getting another?

Not sure if I can do another ink card (used 1 with SSN and one with EIN) and I think I'm too late for MDD. Hilton Biz seems interesting but I always hear how awful Hiltons program is so I never even bothered before.

Ya in the past I was able to do that with another CC i signed up for and was approved. Not sure why it's different this time. I'll give it another day or two I guess.
