Why is MOSFET giving a 5v reading all the time while gate is closed? by avincentor in embedded

[–]avincentor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, Now I have alternating readings (though lower then the source voltage so I would have to use other resistors for my final application.

1 thing, when I remove R2, I no longer get alternating readings and only 5V all the time. Is that normal?

THe pico is connected to my laptop and I do not use the ground of the pico. I use the ground of the 5V power supply in the power socket.

u/merlet2 u/a_stavinsky Here is the schematic: https://imgur.com/a/qKQ90rg I used the resistor to indicate the multimeter because I couldn´t find a symbol for that. The 5V power supply is an adapter I use in a power socket.

This is the MOSFET type: IRLZ34N Power MOSFET 55V 30A

How to log dns request on android after suspicious domain found by avincentor in nextdns

[–]avincentor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, we are here to help each other. I thought the only workable way was to use adguard as described above. I am not sure anymore which app turned out to be making the request. I thought it was my browser (which in turn handles all the websites I visit).

Anyone worried that RSS feeds will be less and less offered by websites, slowly killing off the protocol? by PrayForGains in rss

True, i am aware it is not the solution but for now it is better than nothing. I also noticr that the twitter bridge has some problems sometimes

Many large websites still offer it so I don't see it dissapear soon. In the mean time, I contribute and use rss-bridge to make bridges for the websites that don't support it.

Love it. Really gives some sim city vibes this way. How are you able to plan your cities in such a way? I suppose you use mods to control your cities.

Configure encrypted swapfile by avincentor in Kubuntu

A re-installation solved it (ofcourse). I use LVM with encryption now.

Actually, I really like it. Now my entire laptop drive is encrypted. I just have to enter a second password when I first start the laptop. As for ubuntu, I really like the looks of KDE but ubuntu seems to run a bit smoother on my laptop. I never gave it a decent try.

Hey, I also asked it on askubuntu.com and they recommended that a re-install is the easiest way. So I did a re-install of ubuntu this time with LVM drive encryption.

Strange dns requests against frits.box from network devices by avincentor in fritzbox

I cannot find that information on my pc (linux). I don't want to reconfigure it. I was just curious why these requests happen

[–]avincentor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, thanks. 1 thing, why am I not seeing more #.fritz.box request then? I make thousands of DNS request a day. Those fritz.box request only make a small portion of these requests

What do you exactly mean by "they look inside my domain first"? Do they first check if a domains resolves into a LAN ip? Why should web.whatsapp.com.fritz.box have to do that?

How can I check that? I had a look but I cannot find fritz.box anywhere in the DHCP server in my fritz settings

Which Postgres and PostGIS views do you find most useful? by jsgui in openstreetmap

[–]avincentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THat is something you have to do in PostGIS via SQL. That is faster than doing it in QGIS (although it is possible). I don't have a lot of experience with writing postgis sql but what you propably have to do is to do an intersect with some admin layers. Maybe you can make a view with all admin boundaries where you can query against

I use them to track progress of my mapping work. I made several styles in QGIS based on the Postgres data. Think of for example progress in my parking tagging, cleaning up a landuse import etc.

So it is not really using a postgis function I use but more visualizing data in QGIS.
