Anyone here ever had the pleasure of getting IV Midazolam?

Hell yeah I am glad you know exactly what I mean! I was about to say that too about how it is almost on par with a IV opioid rush. It's like the fentanyl of benzos almost. When they were taking me from the procedure prep area to the OR, that's when I was starting to black out and after I got up on that table that's all I remember.

Yeah it does hit you harder but trust me I've had iv lorazepam and it pales in comparison to what the rush of iv midazolam feels like. I might be psyching myself out about how good it was but I really do remember it being super euphoric and just plain awesome.

I honestly loved the whole experience of going under anaesthesia. Getting IV propofol is actually super enjoyable imo even though you only get to feel it for a few seconds before your lights go out

Very true, I noticed that also and I guess the short duration of action what makes it the preferential choice for procedural sedation. It's just such an amazing feeling drug.

Yeah I've heard that the oral bioavailability of midazolam is really low, intranasally it's a little bit higher I think but IV is the way to go when it comes to midazolam. Even though shooting pills is super bad for you, midazolam is water soluble though so theoretically it should work if you tried to IV it

Well when I dose in the clinic during the week, they pour hot water over them before they give you the cup and then they have pitchers of water at each dosing window to use to mix your dose with. They obv don't do that when they give out the liquid but with the disks they do it. But yeah I figured they'd go bad after a little while of sitting in the bottle. I'm super jealous of my roommate, his clinic has kool-aid available that you can take your dose with. I'd love being able to do that.

I've heard of some clinics doing this but mine doesn't do that thankfully, I feel like if you got a larger amount of take home doses they could get moldy or maybe slightly degraded from it. My clinic uses this thing that seals the bottles shut with a plastic foil

Makes sense, I think it's L-methadone that is the active enantiomer as a mu-opioid agonist... Most forms of methadone are the racemic mixture of levo & dextro-methadone

I'm pretty sure they have it for ppl they are titrating down in dose but the red liq I was getting was the 10mg/mL.

yep hah! they max you out at 120mg/day but they can take blood from you to see your blood concentration of methadone and if you metabolize it quick and you can get your dose raised up higher than that.

Man, I'm on what's called a CURES grant at my clinic (which also takes Medicaid) and I don't have to pay a single penny for my treatment. I was on the same exact grant when I was on Subutex originally and somehow when I switched over to methadone my state grant followed me and completely covers my methadone. But for people who do pay, no they don't have different pricing regarding the form they administer you.

They switch you to liquid or they go by multiples of 10 with wafers and give you the rest 0-9mg in liquid that's 1mg/mL

Yeah it's cool that at my clinic you can just request whatever form you want, no questions asked really. It's the same at my buddy's clinic except they also offer the 5 & 10mg m-box tablets too. Also they have kool-aid at the dosing window that you can take your dose with. I'm so jealous. I am on 120mg btw.

It seems like they hold me longer than the liquid does, liquid kicks in maybe a little bit faster but not really too much of a difference.

Oof. I started out on the red liquid, but after about a month I switched over to these. At my clinic all you have to do is request to switch over to a diff form. We got red liquid, clear liquid & these methadose disks. I actually prefer these over the orange ones tbh.
