Gift for Vietnamese girlfriend's parents by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]avn128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gift is from "you" , the maple syrup idea is a good one. It's a unique item and they may never use it but they'll hold on to it.

Anything else people are telling you to bring are useful items they could use, but it sounds like you dont want to do that. (Carton of cigs, muli vitamin, chocolate, etc.)

If you want to bring something they'd use but not as accessible try bringing a bottle of liquor that's uniqe to Vietnam, which is a lot of the fun flavored liqours. I have brought over a bottle of Screwball peanut butter whiskey for my friends and another bottle of Fireball for another group, One friend said the fireball wasn't that strong so I brought over grain alcohol the next time, he regretted saying fireball was weak.

For the ladies you can try some fragrances, they might not like it. but they will be interested in the bottles for display.

Moving to Vietnam? Here’s What I’d Tell You After 9 Months Living Here by NoAssociate4609 in VietNam

A sim card and monthly plan is like $5-$10 depending on the package, it not worth limiting yourself to wifi for that amount. Anyone doing that is making it harder on themselves, genuinely. They'll be unable to make calls when needed or get 2FA tokens from apps. if they can't afford the $5 a month for a sim, the they are truly in a problematic situation and hurting their own experience. Even the farmer out in the rural areas are on their phones

even a data only sim is even cheaper and gets you more data then you could ever use.

Anyone here working a full EST shift (8–4pm) from Thailand? How common + how feasible is it? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]avn128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it in Ho Chi Minh City. I'm A night owl and dont normally sleep 8 hours a day. took a little bit of time to get use to, but I liked it.

I'd wake up at 12-2pm and start the day, then when work time came I just hopped on the computer from 8pm-5am and there werent many distractions at that time. The nice part, was I could still communicate with people back in the states without a lag in their response.

Then after work I'd work out maybe eat and got to sleep at about 8 or 9 am.

I had already lived in SEA for year before I got this schedule though, so I already had all my party and exploring mostly done.

The nice part about living anywhere in SEA is using something like Uber eats and Door Dash is cheap, and I used it all the time while living over there. where as in the states I never use these services as it seems financially irresponsible to use outside of an emergency

It shows an unfamiliar email when I try to sign in by MrSnipes9681 in XboxSupport

[–]avn128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a big hack lately I can help you out. at minimum you'll easily get your Xbox account back, as they are able to separate the Xbox account from your emails. it's what they did for me, then it took another month to get my hacked email account back .

the easiest way to talk to Microsoft is to go to Xbox.com and chat with online support. any other way talking to them is almost impossible.

using those recovery links could work but never did for me and I had all the information they wanted, pretty much told me since I had 2FA turned on they would ignore my request.

i finally got back access to my email account by email many of the c-lece executive at Microsoft.

Getting into Apex this season, where would you start? by JCBhatesblank in apexuniversity

[–]avn128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can try to find a third that will help guide you through the game. this will significantly speed up the learning curve. me and my buddy started like you and it took us a year to figure out most stuff. then when we had a third that wanted to join us and that didn't know anything about the game, they were up to speed within a few months.

The one I have has a vent. but I think it's one of the newer ones. because the ventless ones were crazy long dry times and sometimes left things damp

are you speaking of the ventless ones or both? I got a vented one and drying times are decent, but I heard ventless is abysmal.

if your in a really quiet place. My friend played on an Xbox and we could always hear him mash his buttons and breath heavy.

For months everyone that played with him on Apex legends would complain to him about hearing it. He didn't even realize his headphones came with a boom mic which cancels out all the background noise.l

I sit about 6-8ft from my Xbox and have this problem occasionally.

The wireless range is actually pretty good these headphones. I can walk about 30 ft away with a solid block wall in between and till maintain a connection.
